so how do you lock the bars now? not only were those thieves trying to bypass the ignition switch, but they were probably trying to unlock the bars. you don't have to start it if you can just wheel it away, and the steering lock is on the ignition module.

No more steering lock if they wanted to wheel it away they could have cause they broke the steering lock and hid some air tags in the bike either way. But thankfully i moved somewhere with better security now.

The best preventative accessory to stop bike theft is simply to put a Disc brake lock on the bike. The problem with keyless keys is the battery can go dead. And keyless ignitions can be hacked. So there not 100% theft proof as you believe.

I tried one of those disc brake locks, they just cut it off with an angle grinder and they are not fun to put on and off, if they can figure out how to hack the receiver they can keep the bike, but if they where that skilled they wouldn’t be stealing cheap bikes 🙃

Well done, I'm buying one of these in 3 weeks. A pristine 2009 smoke grey from a good friend of mine. He purch. new & is ANAL AF about his shit so, It looks brand new and has been a commuter most of its miles and a 2nd bike for him since 2016.. Bone stock & original but for new Bridgestone BattleAx tires. Already have about 1k in upgrades for it in a pile,.. from fender eliminator/ tail tidy kits to frame sliders, tank pads, Adj. levers, T.R.E., solo seat cowl/grab rail delete plugs, to a real Carbon Fiber exhaust & CF hugger rear fender, gearing upgrade..... I like that bubble windscreen just ordered one and now I see it looks pretty good,. I was wondering.. Now i'm looking at the headlight upgrades and one of those Sargent seats,..yeah that seat can be much improved !...

Nice! You will enjoy that bike im sure they are great bikes. The LED headlights made a big difference in visibility, i might switch to have one side projector headlight mod soon i think that would look pretty cool kind of like a Ducati 996.

Yep still seems pretty accurate, i didn’t go to aggressive i would recommend just one in the front sprocket or two in the back same either way.

I have the sv1000s 2004, last owner changed the front sprocket for 1 tooth less and the speedo was out a mile, changed back to standard and all good now, certainly didn't need the that mod as well quick anyway

Cool stuff but, the next mod you should do is to just move to a different location if you're having so many problems with theft. Someone knows you and your routine. Time to move. At least 30 miles away and a good neighborhood

Black is a great color on these i don't see many of them mostly see the sv1000s in black. The orange color is nice as well, prob my second fav color on these.
