I want to do this on my swift zc32s but the schematic shows a lock washer on the inner tie rod. Can I use the same process ?

SX4’s with electric power steering require the lock washer. Hydraulic PS (my cars) do not. I can’t speak to the Swift. Thx for watching 🍻

Spot on thank you - think this is my next job. Proper job with the documentation too! QQ - Did this come about from steering wheel play? I have just bought one that has about 0.5" on the steering wheel when stationary/off. 100% it's been on a bumpy road for a year, like REALLY bumpy, as taking it away was fiun. I can move the front wheels a little when jacked up, at least on one side that I've tried. Any help appreciated! Thank you :)

My issue manifested as a very slight wander off of tracking a straight line. If you remove the tie rod end from the steering knuckle, push/pull in and out in line with steering rack on the inner tie rod, any play will be easily noticed. Even if the inner tie rod drops under it own weight (when tie rod end is removed from knuckle) it’s shot. Ensure the rack itself remains securely attached to structure. Lower ball joint & steering shaft U-joint wear should also be considered. Thx for watching 👍🍻
