Yes ,even the bike has 1500 cc you cant ride iy more than 100 kmh at many places saftley. More cc means you are spending money on fuel for nothing.average cc is enough for a bike.

Alex is absolutely correct. And, many of us seasoned riders understand that this is an excellent bike for experienced riders as well. Ergo are right, with the heads up, feet down riding position, which give the best possible visibility. Brakes and handling are excellent for all normal riding, including travel. The reasonable weight, and low saddle height means this is not going to fall on you, or fall over while you are parking it. This is a plus for older riders who are downsizing , and for smaller people and those starting out.. since you control it.. it doesn't control you. I generally advocate that real beginners start out with a bike around 100 cc... but the Suzuki is mild enough, with a broad enough power band to work well for those learning all the aspects of riding at once.. where a peaky neck snapper is a detriment. Because it is an able highway and travel bike.. it is one that wont soon be outgrown and discarded. The quality is quite high, and the machine will last for many decades with basic regular care. Maintenance is simple to learn to do yourself, and cheap if you have it done. I have ridden for 60 years, and the TU was a great second bike to grab and go on.. and now a great bike to have since the BMW's got too big to manage as I got old.

I really like this toy, it's good for commuting and short-mid trips. But it's sad that no one talks (or knows) about running costs and max speed and last but no the least, in Victoria I pay the same road registration as if I ride a 500cc.

@@billadmond9450 This was my first motorcycle I still have today, and ride it.. mine was a brand new 2013 at the time. $,4,700 out the door. Get your self a 16tooth front sprocket and you can cruise with the bike at 70MPH all day long it get's 200 miles on a tank of gas with a 33 miles on reserve. Top speed with needle maxed is 100-105 MPH and yes I've done it. Don't expect to pass anyone on this bike though. I have 9,000 miles on mine now I've done 400 miles in a day on this bike too! I just bought a new Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 last year however so this bike does not see as much love just around town these days.

@@EternalPodcast What you say is true but I wouldn't change the sprocket because on fast ways and strong wind the bike will struggle to keep the speed at 80Km/h. However, I lost the love for this very very expensive (if we consider its outdated technology) "toy" because 1) Suzuki Australia and its dealers (had bad experience by two of them) are stupid and not professional, 2) I sold it (and lost money) and bought a Honda CB300R. Very very happy now, the bike has enough power and much better safety on the road than the outdated and very expensive (AUD300 more expensive than the CB300R) TU250X, not to mention fraudulent Suzuki dealer who sold me an ex-display bike for brand new, a second dealer did the service but didn't do it AND Suzuki Australia working out with pre-made corporate scripts and did nothing to address the issues! FU Suzuki!

50 years riding bikes of all sorts in UK but mainly 60s/70s Ducatis. I now have the Thailand version of this bike and I love it on the country roads around my home, which are pretty poor and don't need a high-performance bike. It originally came with horrible 4.0 and 4.5 section tyres F&R which I've changed for low profile 100/80 and 130/70 tyres. Also changed front brake caliper to a 4-pot Brembo. Cheap to buy -- equivalent of about 2,400 USD, GB£1,900 here - gets about 29km/l, 80 mp(UK)g. A fun bike without the worries that having an expensive bike brings.

Downsized to a TU250X three years ago. Weight is 326 lbs wet. The bike is 100% reliable, starts immediately on cold days, gets about 70 MPG with low insurance rates, and maintenance is easy. Great bike for in-town riding and short highway trips too.

This was my first “real” bike and it was great. I actually commuted on the freeway with it and took it on plenty of 1-3 hour trips on the freeway. It was definitely lacking in power for that type of riding but it held its own if you weren’t afraid to lay down a bit :)

I can help with most of these questions if anybody gives a rip. I rode both before I pulled the trigger on a barely used TU. You can't beat the price of the TU, which is fuel injected AND electric start which will be a deal breaker for some considering an SR. I paid $2500 for an immaculate Suzi with less than 300mi. It will go 75+/- so if there's no traffic on the interstate and you’re just traveling a few exits, it's fine. The TU does not have enough to zip in and out of 70+mph traffic. If you’re gonna pay the price of a new SR, you're probably better off looking at a used twin if interstate driving is a priority.

I absolutely LOVE my TU250! The fuel injection is a great feature. It’s light, nimble, and has a good sized seat ( the Rebel and the V-star had tiny, pointed seats that hurt my fanny just sitting on them in the showroom!). It’s easy to work on when doing regular maintenance like oil changes and the filters are readily available at my local parts store. The most surprising feature is how eye catching it is! Even seasoned Harley riders come up to me and tell me how cool they think it is. She’s definitely been a conversation starter. We lovingly call her “Susie Q” and no matter how many bikes I bring home, she’ll always be a part of the family

I had big bikes, did the whole leather and biker boots bar scene for years...loved it actually. But it does not interest me anymore. Now I'm looking for a minimalist bike, no mods, and pushing it's ability in climate and distance. I will keep perfect maintinece records and a logbook of the experiences and my opinions. Just sort of a project type hobby. The Suzuki TU250 is probably a good bike for this.

This is a High Quality Motorcycle.. it may be relatively inexpensive, but it is anything but cheap. Also, seasoned experts recognize this as an excellent all around motorcycle, with high reliablilty, economy, and the legs to travel with . It has the safest ergonomics for city/suburban riding.. which keeps your upright so you can see more when you swivel your head.. which you better be doing if you want to live in that environment !

One of the MSF sites I coach at has had some TU250s for years. On weekends I ride a mix of 200-300 cc bikes doing demos and the TU250 probably the smoothest running bike of them all. It's easy to handle and has a good natural riding position for beginners. The start year after year and don't make trouble.

All due respect, the TU250x would have been a great starter bike in the 90's , but now the re-built Rebel 500 is the best all around starter bike. 1) you won't out grow it in 6 months, 2) it has a modern look that resembles a Harley-est body style that while riding with your more experienced friends you won't feel like an out cast goof ball as your getting your experience with it. And 3) it's a Honda so if you do maintenance on it, it will last forever. Most when moving up they just get the new 1100 Rebel because they feel in love with the body type and handling of the Reb design. Keep in mind that a Harley sportster makes 50hp and the Reb 500 makes 45 so you can keep as long as you want.

Still have the turn signals where saddlebags go. Still no factory luggage rack. There are solutions...extend the turn signals to the license plate bracket, and manracks makes a luggage rack for it. Simplicity is cool and all, but if you want to take a longer trip, which I believe 250's are more than capable of, you need to take some stuff. Come on Suzuki, fix these flaws.

No cruiser bike is a good choice.. feet forward is dangerous.Extreme fork rake makes for crummy handling.. this is a needle threader, and that means it is a REAL motorcycle...not a bag of bad style crap with a motor.

2 grand to 2500 buys a low mileage extremely nice used TU-250x. Very smart choice.10,000 miles is ok in an adult owned bike..but I see bikes all the time with a couple of thousand miles on them. If you live in California..the bike MUST have 7500 miles to be registered there.

If you can't keep a carb running ya don't need a bike.Fuel injector stops you are stranded .Carb mess's up 10 minutes later you are on the road again.

Fuel injection is only worthwhile if you're gonna ride the bike box stock. Which most people do, so I reckon it makes sense from a marketing standpoint. Still, it's a shame to see one less carburetor in the world. They're easily tweaked, modded, and makes it super easy to hotrod your bike. Half the fun of smaller displacement bikes is in the modding and tweaking, and that's not gonna be easy with FI.

@@grumpysquid I'd highly recommend it. The thing is a pack mule and can take a hit and keep on going. Only issue I had out of mine was a factory defect that would cause my chain to get loose quickly. Great starter bike in every sense and I honestly think it has a place in everyone's garage just like the honda grom. Also aftermarket and oem parts are the cheapest of the cheap, the stock seat is the most comfortable I've ever sat on. On top of all that it's a super simple single cylinder engine so home repairs are a breeze. Literally if they made like a 250 or 300 vanvan I'd make it my daily commuter again.

@@grumpysquid basically any Ebay aftermarket parts will fit on this bike amazingly it's all super simple wiring and its fuel injected so no carburetor. Front is a disk brake and back is a drum. I almost got smashed between two cars that rear ended each other once and this bike was able to maneuver effortlessly around them and keep control. Even when you bite the front brake as long as you remember to calm down and let go of it as you're going down the bike will straight up stabilize itself

Hey Alex, I have another question burning a hole in my pocket! Could you comment on things like "lube for life" , extended warranties, etc that need to be considered when buying from a dealership like yours? I was faced with a few things I wasn't prepared for when I went to the dealership. Thanks!

So extended warranties, service plans (lube for life) etc. have their place, but it really all comes down to value. If you are buying a new bike it will come with plenty of warranty to make sure the kinks are worked out, and you can always buy more warranty later if you have issues or just think you need it for some reason. If you are buying a used bike with higher miles and a year or two warranty is offered, AND you are not very mechanically inclined enough to fix things yourself easily, then go for it just for the peace of mind I would say. "Lube for life" or average maintenance plans are only helpful if you ride A LOT, for the average rider they are better off just paying for maintenance as needed. Hope that helped! Would you recommend it for heavy day to day use? I live in South AZ so the weather is hot hot hot.. do you think the engine could put up with the heat and use of a motorcycle courier use. 12 litre tank, either 16 or 18HP depending on what you read. You will be in 2nd halfway across the intersection lol and get used to working up and down all 5 gears constantly. Yes electric start as mentioned it is FI. Rudimentary tool kit under the seat, tyres are tubed. My bike pretty much maxes out at 90kmh...which is almost the top motorway speed here anyway.

@@stockton350 yep. I dont have much experience witb efi but if i recall you can let it sit for a month and it fires right up. Ive never dared let any carb bike sit that long since i dont consider u clogging jets to be fun

How is this bike for taller beginners? I’m 6’3 235, 31 inch inseam. I just passed my MSF course on a Honda Rebel. I loved how the bike felt except for the height of my feet. It was uncomfortable to use the foot break and change gears. I know this bike is a bit taller than the Rebel but would anyone recommend it for a beginner my size? Plan is to use to commute in new york city and some short distance highway. Appreciate any help!!

If you weren’t too bad off on the rebel aside from the footpeg position then you will like likely be fine on a TU250 to start for your height! Go sit on one if possible and see how you feel, but it feels much better for taller people than a rebel for sure and puts your legs in a very different position

Not without a lot of mods and it won't be worth it. Your need a New muffler and custom header so you don't smash your muffler, new taller front end swapped from a different bike, new longer rear shocks. After all that your still end up bashing up your motor with out a skid plate or something. It's good for light trail riding on good trails.

Hi Rick sorry for the delay, if you are that heavy you will probably need to find something a little larger in frame size and motor, I would shoot for something over 500cc to ensure it will have a sturdy enough frame and motor so that you don't feel like it's struggling too hard when riding it. Well in the U.S. at least most things you find under about 500cc are going to be singles, exceptions being some of the small sport stuff like the Ninja 400 (400cc twin)

Ergos are horrible for tall people! At 6'4", I feel like I'm on a sports bike on this! I would go with a ptwin 250. More power, and lighter in weight.

Good deals on used ones? Maybe if they ever came up for sale, I've never seen a used one for sale, they did not sell many of these. It's a fine bike but just like you people forget about it or have zero awareness of it's existence. But if you want one get one soon, Suzuki is dropping it from the lineup.

Except the top speed is only 75 mph. Not enough wiggle room to play with on the highway. 85 mph minimum

If you do a search for "tu 250 custom", you will get some really simple, super looking bikes. First good idea is to remove that stupid pillion seat...
