It's merely a scratch, pick it up, blow the dust off it and keep riding. This is what the bikes designed for and its great to see your putting it in its natural habitat and in the hands of a good rider. Nothing worse then seeing bikes hidden in dark sheds under blankets all their lives or bent around trees due to overconfident noobs.

I jut had to cover the background music track till 1:15 due to KZbin's copyright claim after 8 years since the licensed music track apparently got its license changed and we cannot use it anymore. Good job with the surprise, "Machinimasound" - beware of this now-NOT-royalty-free music and avoid.

IF you want to take your storm onto rough dirt roads and off road I really recommend a Flexx bar. It's just amazing how much nicer it is to ride. IMO better control, way less stress and better recovery. Also less likely to break something as the bar will flex if you drop it.
@VToldsMotoShow10 жыл бұрын
I admit that I had to google that Flexx bar but I'm still not sure whether you mount in ON your current handlebar or it is a replacement for the handlebar. Do you have such on your bike? I really do not plan on going off road with the V-Strom anymore but that may be an interesting upgrade anyway.
@michaelwillis34916 жыл бұрын
It is heavy off road. I have an 06 DL 1000. Put on more aggressive tire on mine. I have dropped mine too. I am 68 so it's getting harder for me to pick it up after dumping it.
@VToldsMotoShow6 жыл бұрын
Obviously tired make a significant difference for sure. I never tried the DL with serious off-road tires and honestly I think I would not try off-reading on such a bike at all. Simply the weight makes that hard to manage.

Respect for your off-road skills with such a big bike on such tyres. In my eyes that is something unattainable even with lighter bikes like my Transalp. Another fact is that Im just scared :-D

That was brave at the beginning. Then it was too much and so it had to end this way. Some certain things simply cannot be done in some ways and this is one of the examples. Cheers!

@VToldsMotoShow5 жыл бұрын
To Givi D260ST, o ile pamiętam kolejne cyferki i literki.

where diid you get the lights on your hand guards?
@VToldsMotoShow6 жыл бұрын
I got them from a place like an ebay. It wasn't any particular shop if I remember correctly. You should be able to get these in some shop with LED lights, even for housing purposes. They work perfectly all the time.
@vecicompany4296 жыл бұрын
sweet vid man! what year is your model? where did you get the LEDs for your hand guards? :D
@VToldsMotoShow6 жыл бұрын
Thanks, it's a 2006 MY. The LEDs are custom and they are in fact LED stripes that are fixed in place with an adhesive tape. They have been working perfectly for years now. I had to replace one after it got struck with a stone and one LED broke. It saved my handguard though :)

@VToldsMotoShow9 жыл бұрын
@gajos0079 жыл бұрын
@VToldsMotoShow9 жыл бұрын

I like the hand covers with the led's.. where did you get them?
@VToldsMotoShow10 жыл бұрын
I made them. I just bought LED stripes and put them on the hand covers. They've been there for more than two years I believe. Had to replace one as it got hit by a stone and two LEDs got damaged but other than that they work perfectly and are still nicely attached (glued - but if you'd want to take them off, it would be easy and wouldn't leave any marks). You could probably get one of these on ebay. There are three LEDs in one sector (you can cut them if they're too long).

Of course it is! It is always the rider's fault when you crash doing off road. If you look closely, I looked far ahead and crashed in that same moment :). So yes, my fault but no scratch on the Vee ;)

I'm glad both of you are okay! :-) I love those bikes. Just got rid of a 2003 and man it was a serious workhorse. Fully loaded with over 200 lbs of gear and me 250 pounds I buried it once while going across the Ocotillo, CA desert and then did a nose dive EXACTLY like your move... no warning. Next thing I new I was rolling on the ground laughing my a$$ off.. :-? I did a lot of desert rides and big gnarly fire-road hill climbs on the 2003 and it really needs you t lean back and keep up the speed. I'll be getting another pretty soon, maybe a 2014 leftover or if available a 2015 when I have trade-in value on my cruiser.

When they say off road they mean B roads and dirt roads it’s not a dirt bike it’s just to big and heavy
@VToldsMotoShow2 жыл бұрын
I'm very sure that you're right but experiencing the total destruction on street tires was a good lesson. I don't believe any of these should be going into such places even though they technically could. And they can until there's trouble because then everything will go wrong including a bill for a repair. Not worth it I think. On the other hand, some people fit them with off road tires and really go through stuff. So I conclude that it all depends on a rider. Some can take a Yamaha R1 with off road tires to go through muds...
