I've ridden this back to back with a transalp, the 232kg weight disappears as soon as it gets off the side stand. I don't even want to know how much engineering went into making that chassis and suspension feel so cohesive but kudos to suzuki as its one of the most fun big boy adventure bikes

Would you consider this as an upgrade over the V-Strom 650 or a spiritual successor to the V-Strom 650 or is it a totally independent bike not burdened by the legend of the V-Strom nameplate? Having ridden both the bikes, the 650 V-twin definitely had more low end grunt and refinement compared to the 800 parallel twin. The V-twin charm cant be replicated by a parallel twin. The 800 being the more modern bike had better calibrated ABS and better feel from the Nissin calipers overs the older Tokico unit of the 650. Also, I felt that the weight distribution has improved on the 800. The 800 does have more suspension travel than the 650 and the Showa forks are in general more sophisticated than the older normal forks on the 650.

I have a Gixxer 155 ; their most sold model India along with Access scooter. I once ran piller to piller to find a replacement fuel tank that rusted inside ( A main issue with gixxer 150s other than very tight gear change). Mind you rust mixed fuel costed other things as well. Same case with other spares of the Gixxer. The most popular showroom couldn't provide it. Had to go third party. So before buying Suzuki make sure about the spare availability and whether the showroom could source it.

if only they have given this the vstrom 650 wheels the 19 front and 17 rear ...not only are they tubeless the 19 inchers reduce the weight , seat height and dramatically increase the handling ,. the vstrom is a allrounder hunk somewhere suzuki wanted to be a yamaha t7 and lost their unique trait ...The perefect all rounder for everyone , this on the other hand is to a point of perfection where it shows its potential but cannot be exploited by everyone

Those tubed wheels are costing Suzuki loads of lost sales. It’s a shame really. They hire some hotshot off-road pro and he tells them he needs tubes and they push that on all of us. 🤦🏻‍♂️ I had a puncture on my 650 with tubeless spoke wheels and I didn’t even find out about the puncture until a week later. Tyre held pressure despite a slow leak. By contrast we are hearing so many stories of Transalp and 800DE owners getting stranded on the road due to punctures. In this day and age, an absolute no no.

some people say my bike goes 150 some say 180 some say 200 ,but according to my experience if your bike doesn't tends to pulls up a whellie in slow speeds without playing much with the clutch , if your bike doesn't plays with you with the wack of throttle - then i think you have unfortunately bought a (sheep in wolf's clothing)
