I've had 3 Vitaras now (2015, 2017 & 2019) and the Tailgate in all 3 only shuts second time. Very annoying.

Okay. It's the same on mine. The problem is that there is too much overpressure in the cabin when you close it. You must close the tailgate down to about 5cm from the closed. then 2 finger on the license plate and push it the last way. then it closes every time.
