Hey there man.. what's happening. I'm just now getting into this same issue. I'm no mechanic though but can do smaller things easily on a vehicle. Crank sensor is no biggie but you mentioned it being behind the transfer case. Is that the last word on it.. meaning yeah it's a must to do that. No end around to reach it? Any advice is appreciated from me here in my driveway looking at a crank no start 2007 Suzuki XL7 AWD 3.6 lol. Later..

ScannerDanner recommends this, I've been trying to see if there are developers that are modding newer DSOs that have 2 & 4 channel options which are upgraded versions from the same manufacturers, it is weird that AES is not using those newer devices to flash their firmware to boost sales.

Instead of doing the Hokey Pokey, I cut the wire and put in a bare connector with loose heat shrink. That way I can check circuit resistance first before crimping them together and after have a solid connection for my probes. It’s really easy to cut right through those thin strands or poke off to the side and get the wrong data.

In fact the CKS grounds the 5 or 12V bias voltage from the ECM when its working properly.. So when you are measuring the CKS from the ECU you should see 5 or 12V from the ECU to the CKS.
