Frieza only heard about Goku and Gohan through Vegeta's Scouter when he and Nappa first came to Earth, Frieza did not know that Goku is coming to Namek as they speak. King Kai's story about the Saiyans are partially true from the Saiyans living on a Planet called Planet Vegeta and living alongside with the Tuffles before wiping them out, but the part about the Arcosians and Planet Vegeta's Guardian/God destroying the Saiyans are made up filler. The Saiyans are employees of Frieza's Empire, which explains why the Saiyans use the same equipment as Frieza's henchmen from the Battle Armor, the Space Pods and even the Scouters. But I guess you could say that Frieza is kind of a close thing to a god amongst mortals.

So I might be wrong. But maybe they changed it? Originally the tenacious thing about the saiyans. Is that after every battle or near defeat. They have what's called a "zenkai boost." I might be wrong. But I'm pretty sure what that means is, they become stronger after battle experience.

King Kais story about the Saiyans origins is correct. Originally they shared a planet with the Tuffles until a full moon led to the Saiyans annihilating all of them. The planet was wrecked and eventually the Saiyans relocate to a new planet and name it Planet Vegeta.

I thought that the original saiyan planet was called sadala (salad) and it was destroyed in universe 7. King vegeta traveled with other inmates in a scruffy ship and arrived to planet plant (original name of planet vegeta)

Just to clarify... Originally this story was filler. It's made canon in Super when Vegeta meets Cabba. He says their original planet was Sadala but after a civil war that left the planet in ruins they conquered another planet and named it after their king, Vegeta. This is the planet Freeza destroyed.

That special shows some things about frieza in certain scenes that I think would be better first introduced by watching the main series. Theres only 3 atm I'd say could be watched without spoiler. Those being tree of might, world's strongest and deadzone. Assuming she wants to deviate and do so.
