The question of how Barty Jr. escaped Azkaban is never really answered in the films. But to make it quick, his mom was sick and dying and didn't want her son to be in there the rest of his life. He was also sick and on the brink bc that's what being with the Dementors does to people. Parents went to visit him, mom traded places with him (yes dad was in on it too to fulfill her last wish). Dementors can't see, so they only sensed a frail person going in and a frail person going out. Wasn't a big manhunt like Sirius because literally no one noticed he got out in the first place.

It’s hinted, that Durmstrang Institute is actually in Scandinavia. Viktor Krum, one of the Students was from Bulgaria. Karkaroffs origins are unknown, his name and accent hint towards eastern europe though.

Voldemort really wanted to get the position of Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher at Hogwarts. I believe, not so much to teach, but to use this position for his own purposes. But Dumbledore refused him several times. And Tom cursed this position. Since then, no teacher has stayed longer than a year.

Despite what was showed in the movie, Beauxbatons and Durmstrang are NOT single-gender schools. On the books, it is made clear there are male students on Beauxbatons and female ones on Durmstrang. Hogwarts and those two are the three main wizarding schools of Europe. Hogwarts accepts students from GB and Ireland. Beauxbatons accepts students from western Europe (France, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Belgium, Spain and Portugal). Meanwhile, Durmstrang accepts students from northern and central Europe and even eastern (the latter sharing it with the Russian wizarding school). In fact, Nicolas Flamel, the creator of the Philosophal Stone from the first movie, is a celebrated alumnus from Beauxbatons.

Karkaroff was panicking because of how clear the dark MArk on his arm was becoming. He betrayed too many of his fellow Death Eaters to be welcomed back into the fold and knew Voldemort would kill him for it if he ever returned.

The director of this one, Mike Newell, and the director of the first two movies, Chris Columbus, thought this movie should be split into two parts due to how much stuff is in the book. However, the studio wanted to just be one so a lot of moments from the book were left out as a result.

Barty Crouch Jr. almost died in Azkaban, the permanent proximity of the Dementors nearly destroyed him. Then his terminally ill mother had a last request from the father and he agreed: they visited their son in Azkaban, where the mother drank Polyjuice Potion and took on her son's appearance. Then they switched places. Dementors can't see really well, they only sensed that a person who was barely alive entered the cell and a person barely alive left the cell. The mother kept drinking the potion until her death and the son was kept in hiding and controlled under Imperius curse by the father. Until - through some negligence and some help from Voldemort and Wormtail he escaped the home. The father couldn't warn anyone partly because it would have landed him in trouble, partly because now he was the one put under the Imperius curse and controlled. There's more to this sub-plot but this is the essence. - since you were wondering how Crouch Jr. escaped from Azkaban. You know the rest: he joined Voldemort and he captured the real Moody to take his place in Hogwarts.

I don't care how many times I see this movie. The ritual to restore Voldemort, and seeing him rise out of the cauldron will always simultaneously send shivers racing up AND down my spine and make me nauseous. Trivia: They got the movie appearance of Voldemort almost identical to the book. There is one missing detail: in the book, Voldemort is described as having blood-red eyes with a slit-like pupil. The creature that the imposter Mad-Eye Moody was demonstrating The 3 Unforgivable Curses on was an arachnid called a whip scorpion. As someone who was sorted into Hufflepuff on The Wizarding World website, Cedric Diggory's death hit hard. Especially seeing Amos run onto the quidditch pitch and hearing him shout "That's my son!! That's my boy!!" Backstory: Neville was traumatized by the Cruciatus Curse's usage, because his parents were tortured into insanity with it.

Igor Karkaroff was let off as a death eater, because he gave away names of other death eaters, like Barty Crouch Jr. He was talking about his mark to Snape, because all the Death Eaters marks start to hurt when someone summons them. Voldemort obviously considers it betrayal if they disobey the summons.

Of all the reactions I've watched, Steejo's the only one who connected Madeye's tongue thing, poly juice potion and the son in the memory. Also, in the Perfect Blue reaction, he catches on many hints. Awesome!

Steejo, you are the first reactor I ever witnessed figuring out the Crouch/Moody thing by himself before the final scene towards the end of the movie. Very impressive. I sure didn't when I first saw it.

The real moody is a badass auror (aurors are basically the police force in this universe). He was active during Voldemort's first reign of terror. As Ron said, he is responsible for catching many death eaters and in the process he has suffered brutal injuries like loosing an eye, a leg etc. When moody was an auror, Barty Crouch Sr. was the head of Magical Law Enforcement(he was the head of the police force basically). The battle between the death eaters and the ministry and its allies had gotten to a point where crouch had authorized the use of unforgivable curses to apprehend death eaters. But Moody being a good man all things considered refused to use them unless and until he absolutely had to. The Moody family has gained a reputation for producing many "renowned Aurors" for years, so understandably he was raised with a strong sense of justice(his mom and dad were Auros too, I think!) Moody also has kind of a black and white view about death eaters. There is right or wrong no in-between. He believes Once a death eater, always a death eater, so he doesn't trust Snape or Karkaroff for this same reason as they were death eaters who are "reformed" now apparently. Whether he is right or wrong we will know later in the series.

Regarding Karkaroff - the former death eater being allowed to become a head master, I suspect it is pretty much the same as Lucius Malfoy being allowed to be a governor of Hogwarts. Being a member of a rich and powerful family makes "reformation" much easier.

@@CrazeeAdam Well, Dumbledore is that kind of character that very rarely raises his voice. That was one of his most famous traits: to always remain calm in any situation and treat everyone cordially, even the people he didn't like or his enemies (and that includes Voldemort). In fact, angry Dumbledore is one terrible sight to behold, because he actually gets scary when angry. Petunia Dursley can attest that. That's why the way Dumbledore reacted in the movie when Harry was selected by the Goblet of Fire felt so much out of character, because he would never ask Harry with that tone of voice... especially in a situation like that one.

I am glad you liked it, they do not mention it in the film but the reason the cruciatus curse demonstration effected Neville that way is because of family members that curse was used on them.

Well, they do mention it, but only in the next movie - Neville says so at the DA meeting to Harry, while in the books it is revealed also in TOotP - in St. Mungo's.

@@AdamNeoDot They actually imply it in this one, referring to the Longbottoms being tortured via the curse. You can assume they’re related to Neville, just as we can deduce Crabbe and Goyle at the end are the boys’ parents. But it’s easy to miss. Karkarov reveals it in Dumbledore’s memory.

I'm not sure which parts of every movie need to be taken out 'cause their too long, lol - maybe you just need to react to the trailers🤣🤣 I used to get super mad at Ron after reading the books and then watching the films - but if you go back to the first movie and remember what Ron saw in the mirror (himself as quidditch captain and house boy) - he's the youngest boy in a very large family of boys who have been recognized for being outstanding at one thing or another, then he somehow manages to become friends with one person who is the "brightest witch of her age" and another who is possibly one of he most famous wizards ever (certainly of their generation) - he just doesn't have confidence in himself and is probably tired of feeling left behind...

ok so why barty crouch jr escaping from azkaban is not a big deal to the people is explained in the books. there is much more detail in the books and it is way more difficult to find out that he is mad eye moody. he does not do the tounge thing and has few traits of his real personality traits shown whilst in disguise. but he masks it well,

Ron's clulessness in social abd romantic situations really showed in this one. So does his inferiority complex and jealousy that's usually deeply buried inside him. It's not just Harry getting even more attention. It's also 14 years of Ron living in the shadow of his 5 accomplished older brothers plus one of his best friends being the most famous kid in their world and the other being the smartest person in their school year. Oh. Btw Ginny is only a year younger than Harry and Ron. Hermione is several months older than the guys. She turned 15 a week or 2 after school started in September. Ron turns 15 in March but Harry doesn't turn 15 until July after school is out for summer. There's actually a month between Harry's birthday and when school starts in the books but they compressed the time in the movies.

Harry did go back to the Dursley's house at the end of the school year. The Weasley's invited Harry and Hermoine to go ti the QWC. Arthur, Ron, Fred, and George pick Harry up and he is invited to spend the rest of the summer with the Weasley family

It's pretty amusing too because I remember I think in either this new 'return to hogwarts' aniversary videos, or the first one they did with interviews with the actors and directors - Lucius' actor explained he just pointed his wand and tried to think of a spell and the one he remembered with 'avada kedavra' lol - and also said that the kicking Dobby thing was a total improvisation where he kicked the air and the director asked why and he said he was 'kicking dobby down the stairs' lol, also the line harry says 'Don't worry, I will be' was also a total improv by Daniel lol

Harry's parents were killed with the Killing Curse, while Neville's were tortured to insanity using the Cuciatus Curse by a group of Death Eaters including Barty Crouch Jr. and Bellatrix Lestrange. They didn't die, but their minds are broken; Neville visits them when he can, but they don't recognize him. Seeing the curse was obviously triggering for Neville too, but the fact that Barty Crouch Jr (as Moddy, of course) was the one doing it adds an extra level of horror to the situation, even if Neville was unaware of it at the time.

The one in Azkaban was just a body double that is why they never suspected that Barty was missing, the real Barty Jr. was hidden by his own mother in their home which the movie never showed including the Crouch house elf named Winky which is the only one who knew about it.

Ron's anger makes a lot more sense in the books. He's the youngest male member of the Weasley family. He has the highest expectations because all of his male siblings and relatives are very talented and highly accomplished while he feels inadequate and lacking any real skills or importance. He works really hard to get the things he wants and often ends up with nothing, while big important things constantly land on Harry's lap without him even asking for it or trying to earn it. His jealousy is a bit childish, but it comes from his own insecurity and lack of self worth which is actually very sad once you learn more about him and what he goes through internally.

This movie really did the book dirty. Stripped it down to the bare bones, couldn't get everything they did leave in quite right, and made it WAY too obvious that Professor Moody was Barty Crouch Jr. It also left a glaring plot hole the book doesn't have, as the book describes the elaborate way Barty Crouch Jr. escaped prison. His mother swapped places with him via polyjuice potion, but even that is a minimalist explanation. The graveyard scene was so much better in the book too, just like the Shrieking Shack scene in Prisoner of Azkaban was superior in the book and rather lack luster in the movie. Harry is FOURTEEN in this movie, not twelve. Still underage though LOL. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets didn't have an evil defense against the dark arts teacher, he was just an arrogant, incompetent idiot. And in Prisoner of Azkaban the DADA teacher was ALSO not evil. Him being a werewolf does NOT make him evil. He can't control himself in werewolf form, but he CAN make himself more comfortable and a lot less dangerous in that form when he takes his potion for it. This is the first installment since the first where the DADA teacher was evil. In the next installment, the DADA teacher is the most universally despised character in the entire franchise, and it's not even close.

1:37:29 this is a movie mistake. Barthy Crouch Jr got out azkaban with the help of his parents, azkaban never knew he escaped. To make a long story short, his mother was extremely destroyed in pain knowing her son was at azkaban, so she offered to take his place. How did this happen? Well dementors are the guards of azkaban, they don’t see they just percieve the status of a soul. When Barthy Crouch and his wife came to visit they saw a soul and soul near to death (the mother) enter; after the excange, they saw exactly the same; a soul and a soul near to death (Barthy Crouch jr) exit. To fool the prisioners around they used poli juice potion, to turn Barthy Crouch jr in his mother and viceversa. Of course the potion lost effect after a while but nobody saw that. After time, the mother died in prision. So the dementors thought Barthy Crouch Jr was dead, and so did everybody else. Azkaban couldn’t think they miss a prisioner.

As a Bulgarian it's kinda cool to see Bulgarians pop up in a big movie. And Viktor Krum whos bulgairan (even though Krum doesnt really work for a last name, it should be Krumov or something XD) is really played by a Bulgarian actor. And NGL its kinda funny when reading the book the names of all the team members being some extremely old school names that theres literally 0 people that still have them, but like its all Bulgarian national hero names.

He’s only twelve!! Hold on at the beginning, weren’t you saying the “defense against the dark arts” professor always being issue was kind of comforting? Lol. Someone’s surely mentioned at this point, but… there is a reason for that. Love this one, very fun. As for Ron-I think it was the year after when I felt like almost all the boys I knew were all awful, whether they were in my grade or not. So 14 or 15. Even when they were pretty nice and mellowed later. So Ron being this way at 14… no surprise there whatsoever lol.

Considering Hogwarts has a whole house dedicated to the memory of a violently bigoted wizard - which is still embraced by many of those in the house - it’s not surprising at all that a former d**th eater would head a school. Plus, the certainly do not seem to worry about kids’ safety in the wizarding world XD

I alway find it fascinating that people worry about what would have happened if one of the stolen friends was left in the lake, if Harry hadn't rescued two of them. The friends were clearly placed there under some sort of spell by the teachers, and would have been retrieved by the teachers if they weren't rescued. You don't need to worry about those sorts of details.

OK, so now they're 4th-years entering at age 14. Harry and Hermione have adjusted to their hormones, but poor clueless Ron is only now entering puberty and it's hitting him like a tornado. Ron has always suffered from low self-esteem, so the hormones just make it all worse. He gets envious easily, jealous easily, offended easily, resentful and snarky at the drop of a hat... Basically, Ron is difficult to be around. And Ron has no real self-awareness, never much did, and the hormones only whip it up further. Strap in and hang on; it's a difficult year while going through it next to Ron. (It eventually gets better.) Note: As the gang enters the Quidditch World Cup campground, there's a juggler whipping a large number of white fringed objects all around himself in a frenzy; they are meant to represent grindylows. Grindylows are a type of freshwater demon that travel in swarms; they attack swimmers and pull them under to drown. They will feature later in this film, first attacking a young woman and later attacking Harry himself. Note: It's in this film that you get a clue as to why Hagrid is so bad at spelling and unable to keep other people's secrets: he's half-giant. Hagrid's mother was a giant and his father was a wizard of unusually short stature (Hagrid tells Madame Maxine that at age 3 he could pick his father up and set him on top of a dresser). Because his father was so short, Hagrid's height is stunted to only about 8ft. Full-blood giants average at 20ft, half-giants at 10ft. Madame Maxine hides her true ancestry, but her height of 10ft betrays her secret. Giants are not a very intelligent race. The fact that Hagrid can read at all and his writing can be understood speaks volumes about his intelligence. He is able to keep his own secrets, even under direct pointed questioning, but it's other people's secrets where his abilities too often break down. Madame Maxine has managed to go even further, rising in her career to headmistress of a prodigious school of magic (there are only 11 in the world). She is intelligent enough to pass as non-giant in a prejudicial Wizarding World. Note: Rita Skeeter carries herself like she's a journalist, but she's actually a gossip columnist. The difference is huge. A journalist fact-checks the info gathered and doesn't print without at least two reliable confirming sources. A gossip columnist collects rumors and gossip and adds speculation that make the report a better story. Rita does have a regular column in The Daily Prophet, but it's mainly gossip that competes with truth. Note: The little dragons the Champions pull from the sack are not living animals; they are magic-generated temporary creatures. They exist for only a short time and have no real consciousness. Note: There is a strong theme throughout this film concerning sons and fathers. Harry and his father, Ron and Arthur Weasley (That's my SON!), Cedric and his father (THAT'S MY BOY!!!), Voldemort and Tom Riddle Sr, the three Death Eaters in the Riddle graveyard (Malfoy, Crabbe, Goyle, and McNaire with sons at Hogwarts), Crouch Sr and Jr, etc. Note: In the Wizarding World, adulthood and all its privileges and responsibilities is conferred at age 17, which is also the entry age of the final year of school (7th-years). On the day a wizard/witch turns 17, the Trace falls off them and they can legally do magic anywhere and any time they want to. The reason one must be at least 17 to participate in the Tri-Wizard Tournament is because it is so dangerous; you must be an adult to be eligible. Entering your final year of school as an adult means you can at any time decide to stop attending; you're an adult, so you can do what you like. That said, very few leave school, opting instead to complete their studies. Note: There are several differences biologically between muggles and wizards/witches. -Muggles are more fragile. Wizards/witches require far more force than muggles to suffer physical trauma, like broken bones, concussions, organ damage, bruises, and the like. -Wizards/witches heal a lot faster and don't scar from nonmagical injuries. If a wizard or witch displays scarring, missing limbs, or other serious trauma, the injuries are the result of magical cause or involvement. As examples: Harry's scar is from a deadly curse, Prof Lupin bears scars from a werewolf attack, and Mad-Eye Mooney lost an eye and a limb to injuries suffered while fighting dark wizards. Magic-caused wounds don't heal. -Wizards/witches are resistant to infection, with only a few exceptions. The infections that can be suffered are specific to wizards/witches and don't generally bother muggles. This may be one reason why wizards/witches have longer lives than muggles. The average lifespan of a muggle is about 75 years while wizards/witches are twice that, about 150 years. -Magical capacity is genetic and appears to be dominant. This is spoken of in terms of 'blood status', which is more to do with ancestry combined with magical expression. Two magic-able parents produce a pureblood child and a child with only one magic-able parent is a half-blood (the other parent can be a muggle, a giant, a goblin, or some other creature able to reproduce with a wizard/witch). If a child has one or both parents magic-able but is not magic-able, that child is referred to as a 'squib'; Argus Filch is a squib. The Wizarding World usually will find appropriate employment for squibs. A magic-abled child of two non-magical parents (usually muggles) is referred to as a 'muggle-born'; this can result from passed down genetics from squib ancestry. -Magical expression is not immediate in children but do present by the tenth birthday. There is a magical mechanism in Hogwarts that senses the magic produced by the child and alerts the Ministry of Magic, who then places the Trace on that child. This is for the safety and protection of both that child and the greater Wizarding World community. In centuries past fearful muggles persecuted, exploited and/or killed wizards/witches and their families. This is why the Wizarding World hides itself from the muggle world; they share the same physical world but take care to use various means to not let muggles see the magic. Magical children are brought into schools of magic not only to give them a safe place to train and learn about their abilities but also to keep their abilities hidden from muggle eyes. The Trace not only informs the Ministry of Magic of unauthorized underage magic occurring, but who and where the child is who is doing it.

Barty Crouch Jr got out of Azkaban because his father broke him out by bringing in the mother with Polyjuice Potion, she switched places with her son before she died and he switched places with her with the Polyjuice Potion and he walked out with his father. His father kept him underneath the imperius curse at his home underneath a invisibility cloak. World's quidditch cup

this fourth movie is more fun compared to the third one,in my opinion, which i like. but the third one have more surprising moments which i like even more. but this fourth one have some nice surprises too. i love the fight between Voldemort and Harry. Harry lost but it was a cool scene. i loved to hear your thoughts and to see your reactions on this movie, Suzy and Steejo. i can not wait to see your reactions to the fifth one.

Harry was staying with his aunt and uncle until the Weasleys collected him so he could stay at The Burrow (their house) and go to the Quidditch World Cup with them :)
