There is actually intentional lore behind the tech in this movie looking better than the originals. This is a golden era for industry and the Jedi work closely with the government so they got a lot of funding. But the original movies took place in a dark time when the Empire was opressing people and stripping planets of the resources mostly to build the Death Star. So the citizens were mostly using old used equipment and the rebels had no official government backing them so they were on a strict budget and got used ships. R2 himself is a great example he is actually new in these movies but in the originals he had a lot of ware and tear with several of his gadgets being broken. Towards the begining of the 1st movie Luke was actually fixing up R2 and said "it looks like you have seen a lot of action".

Trivia: when it came to the creation of Darth Maul, George Lucas instructed the design team to come up with their absolute worst nightmare and personify it. They came up with something so absolutely ghastly that it actually frightened George, and he then told them to come up with their 2nd worst nightmare which resulted in the Darth Maul that actually appears in the film.

The idea of the original trilogy was that it was in a "used universe", new stuff wasn't easy to get hold of in a war. During the prequels, innovation and production were more prevalent, so things seem newer.

In the song "Duel of the Fates," the chorus is an ancient Welsh battle poem translated into Sanskrit. Yoda was originally a puppet in this film as well. However, it looked nothing like the ones from Eps. V-VI. In 2012, for the Blu-Ray release, Yoda was redone as a CG creature to match the later 2 Prequels. Darth Maul's lightsaber is called a saber-staff and works more like a quarterstaff (which Ray Park is a qualified master of) than a double-ended sword.

The film isn't QUITE over, until you get to the very end of the closing credits: At the very end of the closing credits of 'Episode I,' you can hear Darth Vader breathing. •••• From comments she makes, Suzy seems to genuinely have no clue as to the relation between the Anakin we're introduced to, and "Obi-Wan's (other) pupil who turns to evil." ...She asks, "have we met Anakin in the prior trilogy?" That making-no-connection, is absolutely unique among reactors who start the prequel trilogy, having already watched the original trilogy. ...One of the things I watch the reactions for, is to see the moment of realization on the reactor's face, when they hear, "and my name is Anakin," and they make ••THAT•• connection. Did Suzy eventually make the connection at a later point while watching the film, and I missed it?

As much as I love Yoda I was disappointed with how harshly he was judging a kid in this situation. And while I still say he was too harsh I recently realized another side/ meaning to what Yoda was saying about Aniken. You could argue that any kid in his situation would be scared but at the same time that kind of supports Yoda's point. Yoda was concerned that the boy had too much childhood trama and it was unwise to trust someone with so much trama with too much power. That said even though I am now more understanding with Yoda's point of view he still didn't need to say that to his face.

Nobody suspects Jar-Jar is a Sith. He's way too good with his "accidental" actions, and supports Palpatine in his plans. Queen Amidala has a huge collection of fancy outfits, but we don't see any luggage. It's obviously Time Lord science. 🙂 We know Palpatine is behind almost everything, and willing to use cloning technology. So my theory is he implanted *his* clone, possibly modified for a high midichlorian count, into Shmi without her knowledge. This explains both the "virgin" birth, and why he "takes great interest in his career" and behaves like a father figure to Anakin. This also explains the affinity between Ben Solo and Rey. They are related, just like Luke and Leia were.

Officers who went to MIT and Stanford told me it is hard, compared to going to MIT or Stanford! And I was enlisted; both officers and enlisted have to learn the same things to become qualified in submarines. You have one year to learn, while doing a very stressful job, and you have to do a two hour interview at the end, where they can ask you anything from the weight of the diesel backup engine to what type of nuclear fuel is used! And of course how to fight fires etc. (Stanford is number 2 in world behind Oxford, going by academic reputation. It is in the same county where I live, in the State of California, county of Santa Clara, aka "Silicon Valley". The weapons officer on my first boat went to Stanford!) 🙂

Here we go, prequel trilogy time! When the prequels first came out, the reception was pretty mixed (although I always enjoyed it); but it's gained a better appreciation, over the years. Part of it is due to Clone Wars fleshing out the story; giving people a better understanding of what George Lucas intended with the story. Comedically though, another reason it's gained more appreciation is due to the negative backlash against the sequel trilogy; and disney's treatment of Star Wars, in general.

Ewan McGregor as Obi Wan is one of the best things about the prequels. He is everything that you would expect in Obi Wan, just younger. Same. Kind of surprised there isn't more of a back and forth on the prequel hate in the comments at the moment. It's almost impressive that there isn't.

Star Wars is a take on ww2 where the Empire represents Germany and the Asian accent spoken by the trade federation aliens represent imperial Japan. Even the droids are the same color as the ww2 Japanese military uniform.

1. Of the prequels I like this one the best mostly for the POD race and the underwater sequences, 2. Jar Jar is mostly comic relief since we don't have C3PO 3. Liam Neeson was very busy with various productions at the time and was in huge demand and agreed to do this episode because Qui-Gon Jinn dies, and he won't be held to do more. 4. Devine conception?😇 5. It's easy to know why this one didn't start the series because of the lack of CGI back in 1977.

Intro- every younger generation is different, but nowadays there is a lot of instant gratification "need" to be seen/noticed or something.

Trivia: the child actor who played Anakin, Jake Lloyd, unfortunately suffered severe mental trauma after the release of the film resulting in him being diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic.

He's still a fan of the franchise, though. His mother confirmed it.
