Full walk-through video of the brake upgrade project that I completed on my 2nd Gen SV650 track bike.
The upgrade consists of a Brembo RCS Master Cylinder from SVRacing Parts: www.svracingparts.com/store/B...
Caliper Adapter Brackets: www.svracingparts.com/store/S...
2003-2004 CBR600RR Nissin Brake Calipers from Ebay

This is amazing quality. I would recommend a tripod or something to minimize movement. Other than that cheers to a new subscriber!!

Turns out this is a good video for rebuilding the calipers on my F4i :)

Correct, it's the exact same caliper.

From the reading I have done this bracket kit and caliper setup also will fit the gsxs750. I have a 2015 and would like to do this upgrade. There is very little info I can find about it and only one forum thread detailing the upgrade but all pics are missing. More research ahead! Great video you are very detailed!

Great little video as not many showing the process out there. Good to hear your final thoughts too. Is the master upgrade essential for road use?

I would say so, since it pushes more volume than the stock MC.

I just finished a similar caliper upgrade/ swap on my SV650 with a set of Tokico SV1000 4 piston calipers +++. full rebuild kit was only $32 for a 2 caliper kit, but EVERYTHING else adds up FAST...SVRP adaptors, titanium hardware, and after seeing the cost of new OEM rotors (!!) I went with Brembo Serie Oro Rotors to replace the worn stockers & saved $150.. ON BREMBOS!?! , new EBC pads, ATE super blue fluid, Speedbleeders.. paired these parts with an also fully rebuilt and restored radial MC from an '08-'16 Yamaha R6 and F ME !!!!!! these damn brakes are absolutely incredible any more, it is such a dramatic improvement. Everything particularly the MODULATION is just ridiculously better. Compared to the OEM system.. it is almost scary, I feel like I'm having to learn how to ride all over again....at least... ride quickly... My brakes were in fine shape before rotors were showing wear but probably another 2 years away from needing to be replaced. Pads were good relatively fresh, I'd installed Galfer SS lines and did a complete fluid flush etc... everything worked perfectly fine, No issues at all,....but when you then feel how a proper 4 piston setup with fresh pads, rotors + rebuilt calipers + radial MC....Jaysus !!! it's literally night and day difference.. I'd read it was a big improvement, particularly the MC upgrade...but I was not prepared for HOW much better it is.. 1 finger stoppie time... All said, It was NOT cheap and I scrimped every where I could, using crashed MC and used calipers etc,..but I did use new parts and spent probably a cpl hundred on extra bits I didn't technically need right now,...but that I wanted, to do a properly comprehensive upgrade +++... (Brembo rotors, full Titanium hardware conversion: adaptor mounting bolts/caliper bolts/caliper mounting bolts, VHT paint, HH sintered pads, Spiegler alloy banjos ATE Super Blue fluid.) .. subtract all the extra shit, I still spent almost $700 on the basic brake upgrade parts : Calipers, MC, rebuild kits, Replacement Brembo MC feed pipe, CNC adj. brake lever, adaptors, SHIPPING, brake lines, fluid, HH sintered brake pads,.. pushin $650 Regardless, its the best money I've spent on ANY motorcycle ever.

Great breakdown of your project. I sold the bike to a buddy who wanted to race it, but I do plan on building another one and the first project will be the brakes...

Were you able to use the same roters from the sv? What about the brake lines and does the stock master cyliner work with the cbr calipers? Thanks for the great video btw.

Yes I also have this setup. U need the brackets most importantly. I have steel braided brake lines as well. And it worked great.

ciao!! è possibile montare la forcella della sv 1000 su sv 650?! così facendo non servirebbero nemmeno le piastre per le pinze, grazie..

When you were putting adapter on forks you flipped them over :). Good job making mod for brakes. Anyway i want to make those adapters but i don't have dimensions. Is it possible for you to measure thickness of adapter and offset, and also center to center of bolts?

I've done a similar thing on my Suzuki Gladius. I have 4 pot Tokico calipers from a 2002 GSXR 600 and i'm using brembo pads and SS lines. I'm still using the original master cylinder. Do you think it's worth buying a radial master cylinder for street use?
@Cooper2007ish
@Cooper2007ish 2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. The difference in brake feel and pressure is amazing.

sorry im so late to the party, ;-) but its 1000% worth it.....Personally I was doing everything, & didn't wanna spend 150-200 on a good radial MC alone, & i couldnt find enough info on the reliability of the off brand options you can find on ebay from $A80 to $175 all modelled on the brembo RCS setup...so I went with a rebuildable Brembo MC from the Yamaha R1/ R6 after reading THIS is the one to get..about $90-$110 on ebay in good shape or about $50 needing a complete rebuild/repairs, rebuild parts are about $40... The radial MC alone makes such a difference in feel and modulation,... now... I can't imagine going back to a regular MC... it would feel like the brakes aren't working any more lol

Do you know where to locate the torque specs for the brake caliper pinch bolts on the SV1000 Tokicos?

Hi, can I ask you if I can use those nissin calipers without the adaptor plate on a Sv1000 from 2004 ? And if yes can i also use a 320 rotor ?
@RaptorV1USA
@RaptorV1USA Жыл бұрын
possibly,... you would have to actually compare mount points and offset for the rotors but it SHOULD work alot of that stuff is fairly standard but youll have to check to confirm........ The SV1000 has 4 piston tokico calipers tho so why swap to a different 4 piston caliper setup ? I'm not sure the Nissins are any better than the Tokicos..... they are basically the same parts from different MFG's.

@@RaptorV1USA hi , thank for the answer first of all, I know that tokico and nissin should be similar but nissin are gold color and reading in some forum people say they are generally better in tolerance and how they are build , I will take a chance and buy them and mount , thanks !

@@RaptorV1USAI have swapped for this nissin gold from a Kawasaki z1000 2004 on my sv1000s and it went straight forward without any modification, I had only to rebuild the o-rings on the pistons just to be sure everything is 100% safe , I don't know if it is placebo but to me it seems nissin are better then the tokikos , might be that also the pads have made the improvement
