Svadhyaya. The sadhana of Wisdom

Svádhyáya means the clear understanding of any spiritual subject. In ancient days students carried on their day-to-day Svádhyáya in the hermitage of the sages. But the circumstances have changed and the term Svádhyáya has also lost its meaning with the passage of time.
Acceptance of the outward or crude meaning has only led to the corruption of Vaeśńava and Shákta sádhaná and this ultimately greatly distorted people’s religious belief.
But what is the real meaning of Svádhyáya? How to apply Svádhyáya practically in daily life?

Dada, I am looking for some advice. A few times in meditation I have experienced nondual awareness, but I don't know how to reliably bring it about. Sometimes while meditating, I try to use that previous experience to help pinpoint what I'm trying to do but instead various things like out of body experiences keep happening. If you have any advice, please help!

I will tell you my thought about it, since me too have been thinking and seen it as an option: I reached the conclusion that if by my own will i do it, i will be back anyway, in a different envelope/ body To end "unfinished business". So the purpose of being here would rather be to elevate our spirit, spiritually develope and evolve as allowed by our "data"/ possibility. There is no way to escape We have to finish our journey till the last breath. That's the way God planned it. We have to support and help each other in our journey And who tells you this? Me a lonely dreamer... 💞

why is a wrong question, because it leads to a never-ending string of whys. why is a theological question .rather ask how? my friend, you have talked about one aspect of svadyaya : self - study. but svadyaya has another aspect and it is the study of the self.

books can elevate you as much as they can deceive you, even if it is a transcript of a master. why? 1st: truth spoken is a lie. Buddha once said:"I will talk about the ultimate, but you must understand that all that I say is wrong because it can't be expressed by language." 2nd: what the master said is 99% live conversation with a specific person at a specific time for a specific purpose. so context is highly important. if you take any conversation out of context ( say Bhagavathgita for example), it is a disaster.

Not if you are a wise listener... Not if you keep on the conversation with yourself. There is oral study and wisdom as there is written study and wisdom in many spiritual traditions.
