In the first-test in France I read this (yes is Google traduction and the last Line is important) : The wet-sump, liquid-cooled Bajaj engine here delivers a maximum torque of 12 Nm, relatively high for a 125, which the engine delivers at 7,500 rpm. Chain-driven double overhead camshafts actuate all four valves while a single counterweight is present on each gear to eliminate unnecessary vibration. The block is also effective in this area since even at the limit of 11,000 rev / min we do not feel excessive vibrations. The Bosch ECU, made in India by a subsidiary of the German company, controls injection with a simple top injector that feeds the 33mm Dell'Orto throttle body. The ECU limits the top speed on our model to 100 km/h, but the engine is capable of exceeding 120 km/h without this limitation.

Oh wow! So basically it is limited to 62mph (100kmh) because of EU emission laws? Am I reading this correctly? This is bullshit if that’s the case. Thank you so much for this mate!

The highway code for motorbikes is very old in Italy. But this bike is perfect for going around Italy including the islands, without going on the highway, enjoying the panorama of the journey and also making stops prohibited for those on a diet ;) :) Thanks for the video...Un Abbraccio da Roma

Isn’t this bike allowed on highways in Italy? I thought 125 was the minimum? In any case, it is perfect for the islands and maybe mountains? Forse Toscana o lago Trasimeno? Ora che ci pensò un po’ di più, Urbino è perfetto per lei ;)

I topped 77mph you have to go all in 4th-5th gear and when 6th.. also you can adjust the flashing red light by yourself( see manual ) next time when you’re going 60 in 6 drop it down to 5 the speed will increase

That’s weird.. I can easily do 71-72 mph on mine with 4300km on the odometer. My max speed was 125kmh but that was a bit downhill with wind to the back hehe.. Anyway, you should look into that issue. Also, the ergo seat is a looot more comfortable (and will fit one day to the 401) and get yourself some plugs for the factory mirror holes (just to save the threads). The sixth gear is rather to save energy than pushing it to the limit. I did 10h journeys on my bike already and I can say it’s perfect in the city but once you get stuck behind a truck you dream about the 401 or even 701… and a full driving license.. Best wishes from Berlin!

So much info in one comment :) Thanks for the input! Honestly, I cannot get her to run faster whatever I do. Maybe it is an issue as you say? Since I got my full license a new world has opened to me hence me testing the 401! It is a shame though that we can’t really enjoy the 125 outside the city. So much potential wasted if you ask me. I guess it makes the 401 a more desirable bike but with the price of the 125 it’s a no brainier given the choice? Definitely need the plugs.

@@vanyer401 I have the same issue with the speed. You have to drive it to the limit in every gear. The 6th gear is useless in my opinion. You can use it downhill but not for more.

Your not riding it how it needs to be ridden. After 1st service you need to nearly hit the rev limiter in every gear from 4th. I have a Vitpilen 125 slightly different engine to yours and I can do 57mph in 4th but if I shift early it will struggle to do 55mph in 6th.

I thought the duke had exactly the same engine minus some tweaks so it shouldn’t be much faster? Please note two things. First, I did not accelerated properly according to many viewers. Second, it might be further limited in the EU due to low emission regulations. I’m at a loss at this stage.

You have to rev it higher before shifting. You really have to stay in gear until you are almost in the limiter at around 11k rpm. Otherwise you’ll lose top speed. 4th gear up to 55-56mph, 5th gear up to ~65mph. I also found that the 6th gear is rather useless. I usually lose speed in 6th gear unless the conditions are perfect.
@notjustakill

Ab yes and the bikes power is highest at 10k rpm. You have to use the full range with this bike
@vanyer401

I thought that revving higher would’ve achieved top speed faster? I mean given a long stretch you’d arrived at the same top speed regardless of acceleration. I’ll give it a go and post the results. Thanks for the suggestion mate.

@@vanyer401 I got the feeling if I shift from 4th to 5th gear it’s lacking a bit of power and won’t accelerate to top speed for some reason. Im looking forward to hearing about your result. You should definitely get faster than in the video.

@@vanyer401 no, you really have to push the bike and rev it to even get to top speed. If you do not rev it enough, it could just stay at a speed that is not the top speed, regardless how long of a stretch you have.

I also have the Svartpilen 125. Nice to drive, but slow as f**k. Imagine two people would sit on it. In example two 16 years old teenager with together 130kg, then they could almost walk😂 I drove a SMC before and it made 75mph with me on it and I am tall and not skinny. My son has 65 kg and he is not faster than me. You need to revv it up to 10k plus to get speed. The 6th gear is totally useless. The parts on the bike are way too good / heavy for the speed it can get. When you drive through pitches/ hills, you will be an obstacle all the time and even trucks will pass by. I think Euro5 is a problem, too. Maybe they should have built it less heavy weighted, but of course it looks great. According to the papers the topspeed is 72mph, but this we never reached. It drives pretty normal without any issues. Is this maybe a Software issue? Or does anyone know If there are any useful tunings to get a bit more out of it?
@vanyer401
@vanyer401 2 жыл бұрын
That’s exactly my experience too. At high speed you’re an obstacle. Maybe the larger bike parts are an answer?
