I cannot stress enough what a masterpiece this is. How most musical creation endeavours are so far below this piece. How the fact that a very tiny amount of people have knowledge of and appreciation for this song only confirms its greatness. Only those who are privy to and knowledgeable of the darkness of life and existence can comprehend this. Twenty minutes of musical variations and nuances within a dark, grey, hopeless mood pattern; this is art at its highest. I cannot be, in this particular case, grateful enough to fate for having put me on the way of discovering such a magnum opus.

Sounds annoying, really. I can't thank the person, who reviewed this for MA back in 2012, enough. If it was not for him/her I''d probably never have heard of this brilliant song. "Given the enormous number of black metal bands that exist or have existed, it is virtually impossible to sample them all, meaning that there will always be great bands that you won’t ever hear. On top of this, bands themselves can vary greatly in the quality of their releases, so if you are exposed to some of their lower quality material first, you may never avail yourself of the chance to hear their better works. If you limit yourself to full length releases, assuming they are the most worthwhile, you may find this an erroneous assumption and thus miss out on a band’s best material, that may be found on demos, EPs or splits. Well here I hope to save you from at least one oversight in the form of Pest’s Dauðafærð. You could easily overlook this band if you only heard Desecration or In Total Contempt, thinking that they only produced mediocre black metal; not bad, but not exactly great either (except the track “Descending” from Desecration, that track is great)."

@@Byezbozhnik There's a couple of ways -- understanding Old Norse. 10th C is basically old Norse, which has a high degree of mutual intelligibility (at least when written) with old English, and modern Icelandic. I intend on coming back to this to re-write it in old English, but problematically I am extremely lazy, but it's not too dissimilar from what you read in the descrip. Example, song title: Modern English: "life is a death-trip/death-journey/journey from life to death/from life to death/etc" can do it a few ways Old Enligsh: lif is deaðferd Old Norse: Lifit es dauðafærð (english retained the -d from proto-germanic 'fardi*' rather than moving to the fricative -th as Old Norse did); early middle English adopted færd from Old Norse incursions in the North, native is fyrd or ferd. It survives in all living Germanic languages with the exception of English, but it is related to the (obviously surviving) word 'far' as in 'to go far'.
