I'm surprised your viewers don't also watch Sailing Into Freedom. Plucky is building an aluminum cat in Bason Shipyard in Thị Vải, Vietnam. The Odisea 48 team uses an English wheel, also. Being Australian, he would’ve loved to build his cat in Australian, but it was cost prohibitive. The small frame Vietnamese are excellent at getting into tight spaces to weld. It's exciting watching the similarities and differences. I love that I can understand Australians. Vietnamese, not at all. Thanks for sharing.

Hey guys. The shell is coming along at a good pace. I think the decision to go with (aluminum) or as I would say aluminium was inspired, as running repairs to Hull damage is both faster and safer. And the aluminum allows your boat to venture where others dare not. It feels like a privilege to be allowed to come on the build journey with you and each week I can feel the anticipation building inside me. The blokes you're working with look like they're great fun, and that's what you need when there's a ton of hard work ahead of you. Last thing, that frame looks huge. It's not a boat "it's a ship!" Can't wait for the next installment, love and peace to you all. Oh yeah, I hope the Nugg is still loving daycare. Best wishes people!

Using the English Wheel, and other similar shaping machines, is actually pretty common in the auto industry. Specifically with craftsmen who restore vintage cars where after market, pre-formed body parts aren't available that force them to make them from scratch. The big difference is the metal thickness. Car body parts are much thinner. Very impressive!

Took several long days and nights hours per week and weeks on end. Times you didn't want anything to do with it. But when it was ready for it's first water test. It was the greatest feeling like having your first baby. Passing out cigars just to see it floating balance on all points. Even knowing the motors could not start. Not a problem just tickled to see our cat boat prototype floating. So I see you putting in the hours I can relate. Your boat is looking fantastic. Well deserve a pint after a day like that. 😎👍🍷

I graduated high school in 1976, back in my day Shop Class was still a thing, usually they split the year up with wood shop, metal shop, we also learned to set type and run a printing press. Mostly boys in the class but once in while maybe one or 2 girls took Shop, and maybe one or 2 boys took Home Economics. During the metal shop we learned how to roll metal bending it making curves, but on a much smaller scale than you are doing with Delos 2.0. I'm a firm believer that we should bring both Shop and Home Ec back to our schools curriculum. We need more people who work with their hands, skilled labor jobs are hard to fill these days.
