Why Sven is the Best Support in 7.36c Dota 2
With Physical Carry Heroes like Broodmother, Templar Assassin and Ursa in the mix in 7.36c, Sven has fallen to the wayside as a viable pick as a Position 1 hero. However, that doesn't mean he isn't still good. He's actually one of the best Position 5 heroes to play because it aligns with the fast-paced tempo of this patch while also helping protect his team against popular physical damage-dealers.

Svend is matchup depended as so many other heroes. + he is teamplay depended. If you queue 5 or often find, that you teamfight a lot in your current bracket, he is great as an aura pos 5 (or sometimes pos 4). Mobility and armor is of great value to a team. You can choose to completely ignore taking part in attacks and only focus on casting warcry, dagger, storm hammer, lotus orb/euls/forcestaff/glimmer/hex or whatever makes sense for the game

totally agree, i played like 17 games on him on 4.5k mmr and lost only 3 times. ive been spamming him, his mix of good lane and stats, insane mobility and stun as well as armor and damage block on allies nothing short of bonkers. TY for noticing my boy sven and making a video on him

I played on my friends herald account and I picked rubick mid and built butterfly and daed, so far 7-0 100% winrate. I think at that level you can play with toes and win since your enemies aren’t playing Dota 2.

At ~5k mmr, I have lost every single match where the pos5 of my team picked Sven, approx 10 to 12 matches. It might be good on d2pt, because at the highest mmr they coordinate well. Sven pos5 needs a LOT of coordination, because his whole kit is 100% useless without it. He has one of the worst stuns compared to any natural support heroes (long cooldown, high mana cost, mid range, mid dmg), he's melee, and his ult and cleave are pretty bad/useless abilities on a pos5. The only good thing is warcry, and it's only good vs certain lineup AND with coordination. This is a garbage pick at any mmr except 8k+ where they actually know what they're doing. I wish i could report 100 times the people that ruined my games with it.

I was playing Lycan support, I got flammed at the beginning but I'm have like 15 games won supporting with it. Your peak is on level 6, you can outfight enemy's support and low armor heroes with your ultimate. I'm always max 1st and 2nd, 2nd became global during nighttime and that allows you to support from the distance and get some assistances. During early levels you can micro your summon wolves to stack and block pull camps. Stack it's harder once the wolves gain invisible. You save on entries doing this. Even if your micro it's good yo can stack camps at time. I'm ussualy build Vladimir, solar, drums, force or glimmer if it's needed and staff if you have a ver strong melee hitter as a carry or mid, give it shapeshift effects isn't a joke, he literally obliterates enemy teams. You need to know how to play around those cooldowns. Hope this be useful for someone that like to play support and involve different heroes. I didn't try Lycan with the second facet (the one with spirit wolves)

how do you survive Laning stage? Sven's Laning is already rough.

@@legitqs4098 is not too hard, if you lane against static targets like shadow shaman, lion, even rubick, I try to bait some of they strong abilities, so just right after that I spawn the wolves and use 2nd skill and I answer very strongly, if the lane it's more difficult I try to harras only with the wolves or focus on stack and pull and take care of my hc. Sometimes I creep in jungle too, small camps on dead times, not always u gonna win the lane. There some heroes hard to focus but once u reach your shape-shifting you can go harder. Thats my suggestion, obviously there are not perfect games but as a support player Lycan it's giving me a very good results. I didn't test much sven, before facets patch I noticed sven's warcry plus shard had a good potential but by now it's even better cuz u can generate aa barrier. Having scepter you can dispell. Great potential there

Sven is my main and honestly at this point I just play him as whatever. I just pick him and then fulfill whatever role is left on the map. And honestly I think I have a better win rate with him on any other role but P1. Maybe I just don't know how to farm or something... Or he's just not great as 1. Lifestealer, Juggernaut, Sniper, Drow Ranger and others simply outdraft him. Lifestealer in particular... Instant GG if he's your P1 opponent.

Counterring ls with sven is kinda unorthodox buying skadi, butterfly and skipping dagger. But if this will be your build better pick other hero or have good support like earth spirit

I've been playing him as a 4 and have won the last 12 games or so. Just no one respecting the damage block. Plus I just ward deep and snipe couriers with the movement speed buff

I greatly enjoy when my 1 who picks antimage flames me for picking sven 5 saying something like "lol new meta" He's a legit beast, doesn't do well in static lanes but is really good at roaming and rotating. As a tip I'll say always get a magic stick to alleviate mana issues :]

Just exploit heroes. Im using huskar(very strong hero in pushing back enemies on lane, high regen and high output damage) and luna(harass enemies, agha and refresher build, and also an effective pusher) as support.

Videos like these always result to players picking them not completely understanding how it works then feeds or griefs the game. Had such two instances of this already in my games and its such bs why anybody plays this, ruins the game. Lets say you do it, what strengths does sven have over other supports. Aoe stun, movespeed Aoe and God strength and cleave with support items? These are greedy and aggressive playstyle that often doesn't fit to a draft and wont work unless snowballing. Lets compare to a witch doctor, Aoe stun, damage over time, heal/aoe damage overtime and strong ult. All spell is really impactful in fights with support items unlike sven. Literally pick any other support than pick this crap.

I almost believed it, then read Torte De Lini... trash guides all around. Picking Sven when your team can have both greaves and bearings? Darn sometimes I build both of those on the same hero (Visage) if my team doesn't, losing an hero for some physical resistance might work if your whole team is built around it, forget ever bringing Sven in a pub.

Sven is a good pick for support roles in this patch, just get aura & team items you can dominate games.
