I got me some time to complete a word-by-word translation (with my very limited knowledge of Latvian): Gray-headed old man sits in the garden, white head, sings about youth. Oh, come back, come back one more time, oh beautiful youth, I miss you! When I was little, I used to go pasturing(?shepherding) and singing in green groves. Oh, come back... Rose flowers are blooming in the garden, but my youth will no longer bloom. Oh, come back... Now it remains to make it into a song 🙂

🎉🎉🎉 Great! And right is "sheperding".
@mxMik Жыл бұрын
@@antrakirsone2992 i didnt like "shepherding" because the word etimologically implies handling sheep, and in the context of the song it is most likely herding cows; a cowboy would say "cowpunching". As a kid I would run along the village early in the morning before the break of day and shout: "Ганiця кароý!"
@antrakirsone2992 Жыл бұрын
😂Then "pasturing" оr "herding"
@mxMik Жыл бұрын
@@antrakirsone2992 Actually, I looked up and found there is a word 'cowherding'. But I agree, 'herding' would be a good 'animal-independent' choice.

Kaut kas neticami labs, sajūtas acīm un ausīm, brīžiem pat sajūti smaržu un garšu, lai gan garša piemīt visu laiku - tā ir lieliska, smalka garša, kura piemīt visām albumā iekļautajām dziesmām, bet vizualizēts tieši šajā klipā. Ar to man arī saistīsies visas šī albuma dziesmas! Milzu paldies visai komandai - ticu, ka šis albums iegūs pienācīgu vietu latviešu mūzikas vēsturē kopā ar "Pilsēta, kurā piedzimst vējš" un "piektā debess puse" vismaz manā sarakstā.

Is it possible to find the words of this song? I know Lithuanian a little bit from childhood, and I think I am picking some Latvian/Latgalian? words here and there after hearing it 12 times :-)

Thank You for the kind words! It's not easy to translate the song! This is the story of an old gray man who sings about his youth. One day the flowers will bloom again in his garden, but his youth will never return… "come back! come back once more, my beautiful youth!” :)

@@marismuktupavels4544 thank you fot the answer. That much I understood:-) (Lithuanian roots -grįž-, jaun-. etc.) And I like very much the subtle imagery in the clip that portrays this idea and its feelings. I would like to know the text in the original language. I understand that the song comes from some Latvian group in Siberia. I understand it might be adapted from the original folklore, but is the dialect preserved?

@@mxMik Yes, we tried to keep the dialect while recording this song. Such as was in the record of the folklore expedition...

Yes, it is a modernized version. Many folkloric things: myths, fairy tales, dances, songs - serve as a base for modern versions. For example, it is well-known that many classical composers were inspired with folk music and incorporated it into their work. Ethnographers preserve the history of art, artists continue the history of art.

Nu, tas tomēr ir ļoti atšķirīgi. Tikai viena kopīga nianse, bet dažādo vietu ideja jau ir bijusi izmantota arī pirms piedāvātā parauga. To var apspēlēt neskaitāmos veidos un katrreiz būs kas cits un bieži pavisam citai auditorijai.
