Hi , I'm from Poland and it's sad that not many even amongst us know that slavs had such a rich mythology , thank you for spreading that cultural knowledge

For real! Only time i ever heard of him before was in a Flashgitz animation about cyberpunk 😂 Edit: it was actually 'Dazbog' or something (dont know the deity). My bad.

@@timomatic6226 ye Slavic mythology is different between each country in our group but phonetically they are similar . Dazbog in polish is Darzbóg and it literally means God gives , or giving God and there are different ways that language creates images of those deities .

That was amazing story of Svetovit The Slavic God of War.

Absolutely fascinating! Learning about Svetovid, the Slavic god of war, fertility, and abundance, is a captivating journey into Slavic mythology. His four faces, symbolizing the four cardinal points, make him truly unique. The grand temples and grand festivals dedicated to him must have been awe-inspiring. Thank you for sharing this intriguing piece of Slavic history!" 🌿🗡🌞

As the patron deity of the clan from which its founder Koschei the Red was descended from, Svetovid is the patron deity of the island kingdom of Bujan, and the entire archipelago is consecrated to him. In Bujanski mythology, he had a wife and a son, whose name is Gorjoscho, the blazing one. Temples in Bujan to Svetovid tend to have national flags. The local Ontemazei venerate Svetovid as one of the many aspects of Lord Mahakala, one of their two Supreme Deities, as Panchanana of Five Faces. His sacred day, Vidovdan, is also Bujan's independence day. Vozonids also worship him, as they associate his four heads with that of one of their own deities, Pjosaroz. Because of this, some Vozonids practice an unusual, syncretic form of Rodnovery, worshipping a Slavic god using Vozonid rites fit for a Sarmelonid emperor who is among the Gods in Heaven. Vidovdan is also the national day of Serbia, which commemorates the Battle of Kosovo and the declaration of war against the Ottoman Empire, which oppressed Serbia long ago. That day is the holy day of a Christian saint, Vitus of Sicily, whose veneration replaced the worship of Svetovid when Slavic lands were converted to Christianity.

Heyo! Was Koschei the Red a person? Or is he somehow related to Koschei the deathless?

My great granddad had a joke about Svetovid. Why does he have 4 heads? So that he can attack in every direction/ so that he can always see when thieves come to steal from hi. (Jokes about everyone being a thief were very popular back then so it was humorous for the local people)

Slavic Mythology doesn’t get enough attention. It only time it ever did was when Chernabog appeared in Disney’s Fantasia.

Svetovid seems a lot like God Brahma, who had 4 heads each facing the 4 directions and was creator.

Im gald Christians destroyed their false idols and statues as te 1 TRUE God command and abhorred and hated! Im a Christian ✝️ share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the lost and those who serve and bowed down to graven images and statues and serve strange and false gods in the land in those times & these modern times!! Thank God for the "Christianization" of that time✝️😇👆Glory to God
