What about the RCDES. We didn’t see that in the video, but the title said it responded

Love the video, not from the area what exactly is the old GMC?? Didn't understand what the acronym stood for, my only guess was mobile service unit. Would that be compatible with an air unit/bottle service?? Having an ateam throwback!! Thanks!
@LowHudEmergency6 жыл бұрын
MSU typically stands for Mask Service Unit, but you are correct on its function. Glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for watching!

OK, I'm not familiar with how most NYS counties operate, but who is Rockland DES and why would they respond? Also, was it just the lighting, or did it look like the ambulance only had amber and blue lights? Good work, as always!
@LowHudEmergency6 жыл бұрын
The DES kind of oversees all of the Fire & EMS operations in the county, but is not necessarily directly involved in day-to-day operations. In this case, 44-4 is a fire coordinator, I believe. They would respond technically whenever mutual aid that is not pre-planned is requested, however they are usually intended to responded larger incidents like a structure fire. Their purpose at the scene would be not to take over command, but often be the branch between the IC and the dispatch and therefore other resources that may be required. It is part of the incident command system that we train on and helps avoid confusion at the scene. Also, the county-wide HazMat team and technical rescue team and some other special teams/resources fall under the DES. This is also very similar to how we operate in Westchester County, where I live, and how most of the neighboring counties operate. I would imagine most of the state is similar as well, but I can't speak for other states. Sorry for the long answer, but hope this answers your question. Also, it was just the lighting; the ambulance has red and white to the front and sides and red, blue, and amber to the rear. Thank you!

Understood. In my county, DES oversees all 9-1-1 comms, PD, FD and EMS training, EMA/disaster response and staffs the county's HazMat team. The only vehicle that would respond to a major incident would be Comm-1.

Awesome video!! Why don’t you record the scene?
@LowHudEmergency6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I prefer to catch the trucks responding. And in my past experiences, footage from the scene tends to get less views than response videos.

LowHudEmergency really? My most viewed video on my channel is the time I got on scene footage of a restaurant caught fire due to arson.

Maybe my video isn't good, but did that ambulance have yellow lights?
@LowHudEmergency5 жыл бұрын
They're red, it's just the way the camera picks them up. The one light in the center on the rear is amber so you can tell the difference.
