@@ThatHomeTheaterDude I have a question about your Prime Elevation above your front stage. Do you actually get good effect from there as you're sitting in the back of the room. I'm installing 4 soon and 2 will be above my L/R surrounds up at the ceiling. I'm debating whether to put the front heights above the speakers in the front like yours or 50" away from the rears on the side like SVS says is a good "bubble". I'm curious how effective yours are at the front.

I listened to mine with a single port plugged. Forgot to change the port settings in the app. Do NOT forget to do that. The sound is better in the correct setting. Using mine in a far field, near field behind the couch. Of course do the "Edge of Tomorrow" opening seconds. You will rattle things that aren't supposed to move. Fury is crazy. The Tron arena battle is greatness. Try the "Slips and Slurs - Divided" track on KZbin. Get those test videos out soon if you can.

It's certainly been interesting to see your system evolve over time. And these subs are true monsters. In regards to the need for isolation, a concrete floor cannot move the way a floating hardwood floor would under similar circumstances. That would translate to less rattles etc. I've seen sites where people complain about not feeling the bass as much when they moved to a concrete floor room because of the difference in response.

4 PB16 Ultras would certainly be beastly. 2 of them outperformed my 4 Klipsch RSW15's (dug deeper and had more output). I definitely would not "need" 2 more but then again....this hobby really isn't about needs is it. :) I did have the opportunity to have Dual PB16 Ultra and Dual SB16 Ultras behind my 150" Acoustic Transparent screen. Boy that was a lot of fun. Not ideal mixing sealed and ported. Sounded better with the PB16's sealed but lost output as a result. Nonetheless, it was pretty cool to see and hear.

I'm moving into a house and buying parts of that exact set up and have two questions for you: How are the PB16 and PB4000 in comparison? The Klipsche towers you mentioned vs the Ultra Towers? I was looking at a Denon receiver to power the towers but, really wanna get your input before I order...I close on my house in 5 days and wanna be like you lol Sam

Hey Sam! I have both the pb4000 and the pb16 ultra in my house right now. I have hours and hours of time with the 4000 and just a few movies with the 16 ultra. right off the bat there are plenty things to compare. The 16 ultra is louder for sure. I am plenty content with the 4000 but if you absolutely need to have the best they have to offer then go with the 16. Yes I am a full believer of the ultra towers. The klipsch are loud and powerfulm but that horn tweeter is just not for me after hearing the more neutral sound of the svs tweeter. What exactly were you thinking about buying? Congrats on the house my friend

Since "some" subwoofers vibrate, you need to place something that absorbs vibrations between it and the floor. If the vibrations are not absorbed, they will simply be transmitted to the floor which in turn will vibrate especially if the floor is made of wood. A concrete floor doesn't give or vibrate. You won't be transferring a significant amount of mechanical energy into the concrete floor so decoupling is unlikely to make any difference. That's why you have a more tactile feel with wood floors or a wood sub floor than you do with a concrete floor. If I'm wrong here then maybe someone else can give some input or maybe can explain this better than I can. If the isolation system is so good then why don't SVS include them with their subs? I believe the cylinder subs come with the "rubber feet" already installed. I'm not taking anything away from SVS. They make great speakers and subs but I think the Isolation System is a rip off. Someone needs to test that theory and do some measurements with and without the rubber feet and see what happens. You get more bank for the buck with Hsu subs than the SVS subs (VTF3.5 15" 600w 2,000w peak for $892 vs PB2000 12" 500w 1,100w peak for $800). And, they have "rubber feet" on them already. So at a higher price point such as the PB12, PB13, PB4000 and so on why can't SVS?
@ThatHomeTheaterDude6 жыл бұрын
FalconsATL I agree. When you are spending the big bucks they should toss them in the box. I don’t think it’s about “give” on concrete. I would argue that you would need them on concrete. Specifically from vibratory forces. Something rigid would transmit better than say hard wood that has a layer of cushion under it. If I’m missing something then let me know. That was my logic behind using the feet. We have tile so I’m sure it’s a better conductor than concrete.
@FalconsATL6 жыл бұрын
Yea, this would definitely make for a great debate. We need some measuring or experimentation from someone to test this theory! What's right or wrong? Does it really work? Wood or concrete.. does it matter? Is it a waste of money? Hmmm.....
