Well, I may have not found that elusive BBC World Service signal from Ascension Island on 41m (only 9410 kHz from same site), but somehow I did find them in French, also from Ascension, and even using the same antenna bearing of 27 degrees.
As expected, the signal is very weak and barely readable. With summer in full swing, I think we are at the worst period for DX reception of these transmissions. But fortunately, unlike the English "World Service", BBC French still shows some broader usage of the shortwave spectrum, with this transmission, scheduled 06:00-06:29 UTC, also heard on 12065 kHz via Ascension & 13810 kHz via Woofferton, and other transmissions found as high up as 25900 kHz (12:00-12:30 UTC via Madagascar).
Still, this service is aimed specifically at audiences in Africa.
Received at 06:27 to abrupt sign-off @ 06:29 UTC in NE Poland using Airspy HF+ Discovery & ~12x4.5m loop antenna.
