I'll trust a spliced eye over a swage any day. Bigger the rope the more shit gets messed up when it fails.

It's not called splice eye. It's a flemish eye vs a turnback eye. Flemish eyes are rated for more weight but to be honest, you really shouldn't worry about that. If the sleeve is an alloy then it's good. Carbon steel can crack easily in a sewage press and aluminum sleeves make me nervous

The cables are twisted, so they can't slide longitudinally. They would have to twist simultaneously like a screw, but the two sections in the crimp are connected through the loop.

The wire itself will break long before the ferrule fails.

@@MrSaemichlaus It's not a crimp. It is called an aluminum sleeve. I do this everyday at work
