Seriously my work load is stopping me from many other things. I don’t know how I can pull off making these videos but it’s a lot of time and stress. Im already spread too thin 😄 and there is not a great market for raptor skulls I don’t think.

Ben your Mastery of anatomical accuracy is unquestionable. Your incessant preening seems to be the secret I need to behold. Seems to me you organized each feather on the neck lol how long did it take you to actually Preen. Bird from start to finish. Thank you Ben. Have you ever considered a separate pay for account where folks like me pee-yew, let's say thirty bucks a so and you give us personal videos which are not time elapsed. Just thinking

Hey Michael. Thanks for your message and comments. Very nice of you. Posing and Preening is the most time consuming part but with the same token is the funnest part. Each preening process takes about 4-5 hours. Open winged birds will add another 3-4. What you are talking about I think is being offered by KZbin but I haven’t had time .. I have 8 freezers are full and so behind. And I do love to teach. So I have thought about it and will do it eventually. Thanks.

Hi Ramona , thanks for your message and comments. I like to use Alex plus Acrylic latex caulking. You should be able to find it in any hardware store. Cheers.

Hi John , glad you enjoy the videos. I make all my skulls. I have a video on my channel on how to do it. You can look it up. I hand carve all the bodies too , again there is a video on the channel. The references are just a pile of saved photos on an old iPad. Nothing special. I use regular thread, and sometimes the white string that I bought from Mackenzie years ago.

Thank you for sharing. Your work is an inspiration. I am wondering how you source your eyes for the various bird species. Do you prefer a specific brand of eyes? Also, what type of wire do you use? I will try my first bird over the holidays; based primarily on the information I have gathered from your videos!

Thanks Gailene. Any taxidermy supplier can provide good quality acrylic eyes for your bird mount. You can also buy online. Just search for them. I like to use black anield wire for bird mounts. Good luck with your taxidermy project.

Thank you for your reply. Just a note. There are very unhealthy fumes released when you anneal galvanized metal. I am an art teacher who has worked in many media including sodering.

Higher quality, no need to clean the skulls, accurate eye setting, no shrinkage to deal with.
