So good! I've been using SWAM instruments recently too. The arrange is very classy, the chords the bass line and everything are very great. Though, maybe a bit modulation on growl/flutter tongue would make it even better? anyway, I'll be your 347th sub. Other orchestral works are also so wonderful! please keep making more beautiful music, would be awsome if you could also share your knowledges about it.

Probably the best tenor saxophone VST usage I have ever heard, and a beautiful arrangement. I saw in the comments that you input everything manually, without any type of controller. I compose in Sibelius for my musicians and have been seeking a way to improve the sound of MIDI audio files. Does importing large MIDI scores into SWAM sound feasible or would adding CC commands be a brutal undertaking for dozens of instruments per song? I reached out to Audio Modeling but haven't heard back so I'm hoping someone with experience can advise if SWAM is the best alternative to other libraries like VHorns. I can't afford to hire my musicians to record everything live and need to create excellent audio on my own. Thanks in advance!

Thank you for your comments. >Does importing large MIDI scores into SWAM sound feasible or would adding CC commands be a brutal undertaking for dozens of instruments per song? The answer to both questions is “Yes”. However, importing MIDI into SWAM should preferably be done on a DAW. Compared to other sampled instruments, SWAM instruments require more precise writing of the CCs, or else the expression will be more musically expressionless. If you want to achieve a moderate result without much CC, sampled instruments will probably give you a better result. On the other hand, if you want to be particular about musical expression, SWAM instruments are probably better suited for you. SWAM instruments are originally suited for real-time recording of MIDI using breath controllers, etc., and wind players, for example, can easily create appropriate musical expressions. There are probably very few people like me who handwrite all their CCs. As you probably know, hand-writing CCs for SWAM is very time consuming. I think you should consider the labor and effort involved and decide whether sampled instruments or SWAM instuments are better suited for you. Also, the more instruments in SWAM, the higher the CPU load, so please consider the PC specifications. I hope this helps.

@@124aska, your reply was very helpful, yes, thank you for your detail and quickness! Doing as much as possible in Sibelius is vastly preferable since musicians will perform my arrangements at live shows and the notation has to be gig ready. Importing MIDI from Sibelius into Pro Tools and trying to make VSTs interpret everything as well as they sounded in the notation software has always been disappointing. Endless hours of modifying MIDI is like having to write entire arrangements again from scratch in a different language. I've wondered if it might be easier to add CC information to the sheet music in Sibelius so that by the time Pro Tools receives those MIDI files, a VST will better know what to do with it. My familiarity with MIDI in a DAW is extensive, but I have yet to make much effort to add commands in just the notation. SWAM and VHorns are the two libraries vying to be my next horn libraries. I've had the old pre-SWAM horn instruments for over a decade but was never able to tweak satisfactory realism from them. The realism of your tenor work here makes me lean toward SWAM, but from what I've read, VHorns sounds impressive with far less editing. Glad to see your work is inspiring many online. Your experience is valuable to many of us, please keep at it!

Thank you for your comments. All notes and CCs are handwritten. I can't play keyboard instruments or wind controllers, so I have to do it that way. All other songs I have uploaded are handwritten as well.

@@mattlee2405 Thank you for your comment. The following steps will set up the same as the video. 1. Select "Jazz" from the factory presets. 2. Change the sax model to "SAX2 WARM". 3. Set the Breath Noise value to 127. CC used CC1: Expression CC2:Vibrato Depth other:PitchBend, keyswitch (overblow) I hope this helps.

I bet you'll change your mind in a very few years as the technology of physical modeling has further improved that much, even the trained ear won't notice any considerable difference to the real instrument. If we managed to reach photo realism by using ray tracing, why we shouldn't have a model that can precisely calculate the physics of acoustic!?

With jazz it doesn't matter if it sounds "fake" (which is not the case here with this video). In classical music, a fake sound would be much more noticeable
