The vedas are said to be divided into branches called Sakas. The sakas are: Rig(21), Yagur(109), Sama(1000), Atharva(50). Each saka was said to have contained 1 Upanishad. So there are 1180 Upanishads. Unfortunately most were destroyed or forgotten and now only 108 remain. The upanishads are philosophical explanations. For example the Yoga Upanishads 20 in number explain everything there is about yoga. To really understand and learn yoga they are the most authentic source.

Viveka: Distilling the Essence of Total Liberation In all mystical traditions, the goal is to reveal our true nature by discerning what is our true essence from what is not. This process of discernment is called Viveka, or in Tibetan Dzogchen, it’s referred to as KHORDE RUSHEN. This means separating out the truth of Nirvana from the delusions of Samsara. The Tibetan term “rigpa” refers to our true awareness, the pure consciousness that is neither physical nor mental but is more fundamental. It is the essence that remains when we differentiate pure awareness from all experiences, be they mental, emotional, or physical. This awareness, or rigpa, can exist without the subject-object divide. Even without external content, it knows itself as itself. This is key because it reveals that our true nature has a quality that can be recognized, especially when there is no other content. This parallels the system of Samkhya, which differentiates between Purusha, the pure awareness, and all the experiences or appearances, including mental, intellectual, emotional, and sensory phenomena as a whole known as prakriti. In this tradition, Purusha is like a mirror, unchanged by the reflections that appear within it. The reflections may constantly change, but the mirror remains unaffected. Similarly, our true nature, this pure awareness, remains unchanged by the myriad experiences that appear within it. Samkhya provides a methodical approach to discernment, differentiating pure awareness from all phenomena, including the ego. The ego, made up of intellect and the sense of self (Ahamkara), is an object of awareness, not the awareness itself. This becomes evident in situations where the ego arises, such as when feeling offended. Even though the feeling of being wronged may seem to be “me,” it can be observed as something separate from pure awareness. The ego, therefore, is not the subject but an object appearing within awareness. All of these phenomena, from thoughts and feelings to sensory perceptions, are classified under Prakriti in Samkhya. This category includes everything from the body, mind, and brain activity to the physical universe, down to atoms and quantum fields. All of this belongs to Prakriti, the ever-changing aspect of reality. On the other side of the ledger is Purusha, the pure knower, independent of all phenomena. Purusha (your awareness) remains unchanged, just like the mirror remains unaffected by the reflections. Everything in Prakriti, from thoughts, memories, personality, personal self identity, daydreams, hallucinations, emotions and all experiences including physical elements, is impermanent, but Purusha is eternal. Differentiating between Prakriti and Purusha is like recognizing that the reflections in a crystal ball aren’t the ball itself. They may seem to color the crystal, but the crystal clear ball remains unaffected. Similarly, our true awareness can differentiate itself from all appearances. This awareness, like a crystal mirror, is never altered by what appears within it. This process of discernment is simpler than one might expect. You are simply that which is aware, while everything on the side of Prakriti-mental states, sensations, emotions, and sensory experiences-are objects of awareness. They do not change the awareness itself, which remains like a mirror, always untouched. You are that pure awareness, not the Prakriti. In recognizing this, a tremendous freedom arises. This freedom comes from releasing the misidentification with the ego, which is a construct of the mind and the brain’s activities. This sense of self, the “me,” is no different from the self experienced in a dream. In a dream, it seems as though you are having experiences and perceiving through eyes, but in fact, there is no real self there. The same is true in waking life. The sense of self is a projection of subconscious tendencies, genetics, and mental processes. It is not your true nature. This sense of self, this “I” can be observed. You can recognize that the feelings are not yours; they are just objects appearing to awareness. When “seen” as an object and not being the subject, the release of identification with this false self occurs. The ego, the sense of “I am,” is nothing more than an illusion, a dream-like projection. Just like the self in a dream, it does not exist in any real sense but is a construct of the mind. Once awareness is differentiated from the personality, self images and sense of being a personal self with its history and autobiographical details, you begin to see that all of these are false. None of them represent what you truly are. You are the awareness OF them, not the objects themselves. This process of discernment, as emphasized by the Buddha, involves seeing that the body, mind, feelings, perceptions, and even personal consciousness itself are not the self. These are the aggregates, or skandhas, in Buddhist terms, and they comprise all the elements of what is mistakenly identified as the self. In this differentiation, awareness stands apart from all of the changing phenomena of Prakriti. The clarity of this realization leads to natural liberation, a blissful state where there is no misidentification with any aspect of Prakriti. Awareness remains as it is, untouched by the changes in phenomena, leading to the ultimate freedom from the illusion of all false identities. In this way, the essence of these teachings distills down to a simple realization: you are the pure awareness, unchanging and independent of all appearances. The rest, all phenomena of mind, body, and universe, belong to Prakriti. The task is to differentiate between the two, leading to the total liberation that comes with this clarity. *All to whom this recognition has occurred without doubt, please let me know in the comments below as I am assessing the workability of this approach and wish to further train others to share this transmission successfully* 🙏 kzbin.info/www/bejne/eXu8ooywrq5rg80si=mFfVLHexfAm-ro1_ kzbin.info/www/bejne/aae0eaOcr7aZeKcsi=vyKfyYqOg2rEgyhM kzbin.info/www/bejne/sHuZn4ZjoNCir6csi=xi4zs47VCLoC91ZM kzbin.info/www/bejne/l3u1l3aCj852i7ssi=G9WjGKJtn1gUTPQM

He is saying the fear comes from realizing that you don't exist and there was nobody to be liberated. That's why it brings fear since Yogis gave up the world. In this context your reaction, this channel, us is similar to yogi, here we are one with yogi but we don't have fear like the yogi because we are ignorant.

Zen/Buddhism and Advaita seem very similar to me.. throw in Dzogchen and I have no clue how to tell any of these apart! Although Sam Harris has a good video on Dzogchen. But would love to see any resource on how does Advaita/advaya refutes Samkhya (tirthika)? Or its answer to Madhyamaka?

In Vedic Sanskrit: Brahma (ब्रह्म) (nominative singular), brahman (ब्रह्मन्) (stem) (neuter gender) from root bṛh-, means "to be or make firm, strong, solid, expand, promote". Shi+Va=(Nothing) Shi: (Rep, No) Father Lord Shiva) representative of Non materialistic & Va: (Things)Mother Adi Shakti/Maa Durga) representative of Materialistic things 🌿🍃, so Shi+Va= Shiva, Masculine & Feminine are like a single coins with both sides but they are one with each other like a head & Tail in one coin, (Ardhanarishwar the form of Shiva & Shakti) but they don't have form because they are No + Thing= Nothing (One) the beginning & the End 🙏 Aum(Ommmm) Namah Shivay🙏 Bhudism don't teach Like this and they are like Atheist mentality, they don't believe in Brahman (God) 😭

If it is non dual.. We dont need to realise it is non dual... We dont need to realise bhraman because we are bhraman... This is the flaw of advaita vedanta ( non duality )... Shiva , Bhrama , Narada, Veda Vyasa, Sukadeva Goswami they are all dualist... 🙏 i trust shiva, bhrama ji, krishna, veda vyasa more than any non dualist..
