Vedanta Society of North Carolina is dedicated to the practice and propagation of the ideals of Vedanta as presented to the modern world by Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Sarada Devi, and Swami Vivekananda.The Society maintains a small but beautiful center near the Raleigh-Durham airport, where daily worship, regular classes, and special pujas are held.
Swami Sarvapriyananda has been appointed as Minister and Spiritual Leader of the Vedanta Society of New York, and assumed his duties here on January 6, 2017. He is a Nagral Fellow for 2019-20 at Harvard Divinity School.Prior to this, he served as assistant minister of the Vedanta Society of Southern California for 13 months, beginning on December 3, 2015.Swami joined the Ramakrishna Math and Mission in 1994 and received Sannyas in 2004. Before being posted to the VSSC’s Hollywood Temple, Swami served as an acharya (teacher) of the monastic probationers’ training center at Belur Math. He has served the Ramakrishna Math and Mission in various capacities including being the Vice Principal of the Deoghar Vidyapith Higher Secondary School, Principal of the Shikshana Mandira Teacher Education College at Belur Math, and the first Registrar of the Vivekananda University at Belur Math.

Swamiji is one of the most brilliant living Masters! The simple manner in which he explains a lofty topic like advaita shows his profound understanding of the subject, & ofcourse his actual experience of it. This is particularly significant in an era in which pseudo non-duality has created a lot of confusion in a lot of minds. His capacity to answer sticky questions in such a lucid manner is indeed amazing.

Just sharing a word play. MIND = My End and Consciousnesses = can't science😊. Sharing my humble view after hearing your profound thought. Science cannot raise to a level to understand the mind or consciousness because it actually using mind and transitional Consciousnesses to understand the world. To understand any problem one have to raise above that. So one can understand what a mind is when he denies that he is not a mind and should raise above that. Swami Vivekananda says the External world is simply the projection of the internal world. To deny the mind or in other words to deny the existence of the world is beyond the proof of concept the current science is following. Because there's no one to share. Another analogues is , feel of satiating the hunger by eating and that feeling cannot be shared with others. It's always my personal experience. Thank you and my humble pranams Maharaj.

Namaskaram.Pranamam Swamiji. Waking and dream processes are exactly the same. But no two persons can share the same dream. So now here in this waking state where iam typing this, everything, i(ego), every other sentient beings or insentient things, even the Vedas, Guru and ISWARA all belong to drisya or maya , just anirvachaniya self-projections before the real eternal alone Me? Is this true? -------- Suppose in my dream iam a rat lurking in dirt. Then inorder to end that miserable nightmare , just a shake from a nearby awakened Person is enough. In that dream there is No need to die and wait for human birth. No Vasana-kshaya , No Chittashuddhi , No sadhanachatustaya-sampat , No sadhana is really necessary to awake from that dream. Then why in this unbearable waking state (which is exactly similar to dream ) should i need all that. Isnt there Anyone ( GOD or Enlightened Gurus ) nearby to give a shake and wake me up? Or am i alone there? Just a doubt. Praying for Swamiji's blessings. Om

That was a fantastic question towards the end. The questioner didnt budge from his logic and the revered swami didnt really address it, but it was all worth the while. Non-duality cant be experienced, because an experience presupposes the experiencer and its object - hence two. This was the issue raised. Therefore, all this talk about advaita can only be had in dvaita. If there is advaita, there is no one to call it so. Then who is a jivan mukta? Is he/she only a concept in the minds of the bound? As Gaudapada acharya says, there is none free none bound.

All experience is advaita. We interpret it as Dvaita..In a dream we experience as subject object but if we wake up inside the dream then we know all the experience was advaita only. As per Gaudapada advaita doesn't become dvaita then back to advaita. That is false due to interpretation due to avidya..

Swamiji, Good talk. But It is not that Science has explained most of the thing but it has not explained anything. Even a small rock or a ounce of water ,Science can explain end to end. They will use some miracle as the basis ie a ontological primitive. That is the issue. Even one thing is explained fully most of other things can be explained with it. That is the issue with Science..
