It's so beautiful to see step by step the choreographic construction of variation. When we see it on stage it's beautiful, but behind it there's a lot of hard work.🔥

Sometimes I feel relieved in such crisis thanks to dancers like you sharing helpful and inspiring content that lightened the world up. I'm doing all your videos recently even that it gives my so much muscle pain lol. Thank you sincerely. Wish you and all the dancers would be able to go back to normal soon! ❤️💐

Wonderful! Thank you for showing us, and breaking it down to the single movements. Not that I could follow along :D it just helps to identify the steps and learn how they are combined to create the dance. I like this part of Swan Lake, I always wonder why the Prince cannot fall in love with one of the beautiful, very elegant, and REAL young women that are present in these scenes. Why, oh why fall in love with the impossible woman that is out of reach? Well, I guess there wouldn't be much of a ballet in that case ;)

---Chassé en tournant is what I am reading from people who are commenting on the french term for term you're asking about. If I remember my french correctly it literally translates to "chase in turns"...which makes sense as you are turing. It's like each turn is chasing the turn prior to it. .. ----Maybe the term in Russian being pancakes references the making of a pancake...the mixing of the batter or at least that's how I interpret it as i mix the batter pretty fast when i mix the ingredients

And yes! I remember now my Russian teacher calling them pancakes! I cannot remember the reason though - maybe because it pancakes the tutu - or something to do with swirling dough in pan for pancakes - those are my two guesses!!!!

You are always so beautiful & cute🥰 I’ve never heard “pancake “ for “chassé en tournant ” May be it’s comes from “pancake landing” of the airplane💁🏻♀️I’m not sure🤣

In russian people call the movement "blinchiki" which is a type of thin russian pancake which is ubiquitous in russian culture. I think she just made a direct translation.

In Russian it would be called блинчики which means pancakes. So yes there is a difference!
@isabelleorsini14764 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure they're called pancakes because the first motion is flattening your foot and pressing it onto the floor like a pancake? At least that's what my teachers would tell me
@sourgrapes7164 жыл бұрын
My ballet teacher growing up who was a Bolshoi dancer said it was because your body should be completely flat like a pancake while you turn, especially sucking your booty in, no arch in back, everything in line.

"Блинчики" по аналогии с "блинчиками", которые получаются на воде, когда ты кидаешь плоский камешек, и он летит рикошетом, оставляя за собой множество кругов на воде. kzbin.info/www/bejne/j5rXdneFaqaZp68
