It’s not a victim card when people need advocates… I read something from the Royal ballet director that said he wasn’t willing to break up a line of white in Swan lake… It’s really ridiculous and ballet needs more beautiful dancers if color regardless if the current dancers don’t say anything… Ballets also need to be more culturally sensitive in general and the San Francisco ballet’s Nutcracker proves this can be seamless… so happy for all these beautiful people adding to the beauty of ballet… ❤

I’m sorry you feel so strongly about someone else’s career. I don’t think everyone is blind or stupid by having ranked her that way. Well everyone has the right to evaluate anyone’s technique. As someone who was a professional dancer and teacher...and an American not Cuban which shouldn’t mean anything? she is simply not ready for this rank as principal. It is a technical thing. Not a personal thing. I do however think it’s sad that people of color are so rarely given their due reward for hard work in the ballet world...then Misty gets this rank clearly for other reasons besides her technique. There’s a real lack of inclusion for those who can truly handle something like a principal rank.

No one is hating; her technique is poor it’s the truth. Her alignment and arms are poor. This is just cringe wtf.

this is not about hating. This is just plain truth. There are highly knowledgeable people about this beautiful art who with their knowledge help new dancers or educate the not dancers. I think she would have been a good, even excellent gymnast.

@Laura Streeter you really have a problem with this woman. I’ve been reading and you’re under almost every comment going off about something. Heres a hard truth, you’re just being a flat out hater! You think she’s terrible but guess what she’s doing what you will never be able to do and if you have done it, you won’t do it again. She’s living her dream while you are just being a flat out hater on KZbin. Her technique is better than yours, she’s lighter than you, she’s a better dancer than you, and more successful than you, she has inspired many black girls which is more than you’ve inspired, she doesn’t have to sit on KZbin stalking comments about you because 1. You will never be as good as her and 2. Your level of talent is nonexistent compared to hers. Do better!

@Julia Mimi Are you saying we are snobbish for having standards? Would you rather we degenerated into a cult of mediocrity for the sake of political correctness? That'd be an insult to talented, hardworking dancers everywhere, black or white.

I agree! I am also black... So my comments is not based on her skin colour or ethnic. I do support anybody regardless of skin color when it comes to dancing as I am a very passionate dancer myself ... I think she should focus mainly on contemporary ballet, she is far better at it... Classical ballet is just not for her... Everybody are differents and have different natural talents. Surely she is talented but not in CLASSICAL BALLET. it's just not for her. Hope that one day she humbly, finally realised that fact before she retires...

I’m no ballet connoisseur, but are we supposed to hear her feet on the floor like that?

Eleonore Bon; yes if you actually sit in the audience. And whelp sound mechanics of the space influences if one hears or not

You hear feet like crazy if you see ballet live or witness a class or rehearsal. Please don't blame this on the dancer

obi2020 • I’ve been to quite a few ballets before (even though I’m not a connoisseur) and I’ve never heard it like that.
@starsupontheland4 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah. She's so close to the audience, that's why. In ballets in a theater the dancers are father away from the audience and often have bigger/louder orchestras, that's why you don't hear them.

Misty Copland-is not the best dancer. In the worst theatres in London,Paris and Moscow we can find better ballerinas than she is. Strong,heavy,not plastic. She could be good fitness instructor.
