Thank you for explaining this, mine didn’t have a owners manual. I unchecked all of the motion/detection (yellow boxes) and left the continuous recording (green boxes) on.

@@rakeshhubert3031 not sure but I have to change more settings as it uses up a ton of hard drive space because of too many screen captures a PIR. My other Night Owl had a one GB hard drive and could go back 2 weeks. This new one has a 2 GB but only saves a weeks worth of video.

@@South_0f_Heaven_ _I disabled all the PIR Motion Detection, it seemed to miss things? and just let it record everything on 'normal' with eight cameras and if needed can hopefully go back a few days. Swann needs to be more explicit in this important area of operation._

@@rakeshhubert3031 yeah they do but the software is so much better then the Night Owl DVR. You can set up specific areas of the camera coverage like a grid that will show movement in whatever area you wish to fine tune. The DVR is great but the camera quality is pretty bad for me. One camera was defective and another intermittently failed that required a hard reset but now that camera is totally dead.

If you have the channels all set to Normal ( continuous recording) wouldnt that then mean you have no need for the yellow motion settings? so replace yellow with green and you're all set? why would you need both up recording at the same time?

We are trying to get footage of an incident and thought we had saved it all to a thumbrive. When looking back on the camera we saw two teens walking = but when we saved the footage to a thumbrive and looked back, it hasn't put that video footage on the thumb drive. Very annoying. It's only recording PIR (purple) and skipping to those bits that aren't black

These cameras have a 5 second delay after detecting motion before recording..they have to be in front of the camera atleast 5 seconds to see them...if they walk past it, it won't record it....factory set them to minimum 5 sec delay..can't change it

Hey, so I know I’m a bit late. But how do I set my camera to where it records all night? Not just with motion detection. I want it to record continuously. For some reason it’s only recording whenever it detects movements and it’s only in small intervals, which I don’t like. I just want a continuous recording. Thanks in advance! Edit to add; I did the same thing you did in the video, I have it on normal and chose my times I’d like it to record and it’s still only recording when motion is detected.

You have to do the same setup for every channel (Drop down) select normal and highlight the empty line above the yellow If your doing it right it will be a solid green..Make sure you APPLY on the bottom to save your settings

I moved into a house with a swann system. It has stopped recording and says the HD is full. It was working where it would recycle and delete oldest footage to make room and record new footage. Any idea how I can fix this ?

First check to make sure it is still set to overwrite when drive is full and fix setting if need be. If it is still not working right, I would try formatting the drive .

Does anyone know how the mobile app works for this camera. We bought a different brand and the mobile app works great but only connected to home wifi. It advertises that u can view remotely away from home but u can't. So we are looking for a different one that actually works correctly and lets us see the cameras away from home!!

I have an older swann camera set that is hardwired,(connected with ethernet), not wifi connected...anyway..we use the HomeSafe View App on our smartphones and has always worked. One of our phones is an ancient apple SE..and it still works with it fine...We travel alot and have pets at home and someone watches them for us, so we always know when they come and go...Hope that helped you.
