A few other notes about this show: It was apparently their loudest due to the soundman pushing the PA to maximum power; a house behind the club was vibrating from the volume; the club wrote a statement saying they would not be putting shows of this nature on anymore; people were vomiting from the volume/shooting up/making love in the audience; the plug was pulled at the end, leaving Gira screaming into the night...One for the history books.

If I remember rightly, he was screaming 'Kill!' over and over. I was at that gig with a mate who was a big fan of Swans. Loudest gig I ever went to and the whole noise and rhythm thing was hypnotic. Sugarcubes, featuring a pre-fame Björk, were the supporting act. Brilliant stuff.

@@clarkem2212 My father was at the show, and he's said, many times, that todays "loud" acts are just a fart in the wind in comparison!

The Sugarcubes were supporting that night, and Bjork was seen dancing to Swans! Makes sense, since her earlier group KUKL had elements of this

Man.. I tell you what I love the way these tracks sound live, in my opinion a lot of their live material sounds so much better than the studio versions. A lot more gritty and evil sounding.
@JasonPizzolato2 жыл бұрын
Yep, especially when it comes to live renditions of the tracks from 'Greed/Holy Money' that they were doing in like '85/'86. Way slower, heavier, & just better.

I can't beleive that I found this gig on here . I went to it with my mate who had a couple of their records , but I never imagined , nobody could , just how frikken LOUD their set was . I had tiiyus for 3 days afterwards, not a boast ...My frinds girlfriend had some kindd of fit , puked up in the car on the way back on the A1! Total noize overload. It vibrated peoples vertibrae so much it induced peep's puking up outside... We saw then at the Candem Pally too, ust as loud... They were , at this time , probably the loudest tour de force on the planet. The songs were so awesome, uplifting, just brilliant. Very fond memories of this Epic performance , and of their whole tour. Cheers for downloading this , what a real blast from the past . Nice one :D

I was at this gig and it was one of the funniest things i ever saw.....the sugarcubes were supporting and there was a big buzz around them and there first single 'birthday' a lot (most?) of the audience were there to see them and when the swans cranked up they started leaving in droves....it was hysterical.....cracks me up every time i think about it......one of the loudest gigs i ever heard.... The Irish lads i used to squat with in Finsbury Park loved GREED(not)!!!lol

Imagine if Coward was performed at this show, like the version on Public Castration.. heads would've rolled, or at least severe structural damage.

The legendary show I read about. Maybe this boot quite good captured sonic intensity of this show. Great sound quality for most of the show. Brutal version of Like a Drug. Insane, interrupted performance of Kill the Child. "A capella" ending sounds evil and breathtaking. Performance of gentle Blackmail after very loud Like a Drug is also great moment of this show.

Check out probably only full footage from this tour - Poland, Warsaw at Remont 1987-08-29 kzbin.info/www/bejne/maCcY3R6f956lbc The video is quite blurred, but can be watched. Unfortunately, the audio track has one channel damaged. Someone would have to upload the repaired version with duplicated one channel over damaged and good equalization - too few high tones. Despite its drawbacks, this material is a treasure. Sorry for my bad english

Understood you perfectly. :) I ran across that Warsaw show a few weeks back. I watched a lil bit & still have to watch the rest. It is a shame about the quality, as it seems to be a damn good show. Hopefully, someone will fix it up!
