"This is what living in new york does to a mf" - A random comment on a swans video

No one gonna talk about how absurdly good the bass sounds on each track? Honestly I’ve never heard a bass sound like this on any record, truly amazing and super different.

Yeah the bass is definitely a defining factor in these early swans releases, without it they wouldn't be the same. Its so creepy sounding yet on tracks like sensitive skin its so catchy. Kinda reminds me of like a shitty midi bass sound too lol

its so interesting to me. having not heard this before ever, but having basically listened to eevery orher swans output. at least everything in the way of studio albums and live albums abd shit….. it does sound different youre right. and like after listening to this you can really, really just see this crazy amount of details, layers that got dialed back on the next (and very deliberately simple), albums they would be creating this is just…. incredible, just so fucking cool… im so glad to have e isted at a point in time where swans has also existed:.. if theres like a “thing” out there for every person, butnof course more than one person could share one “thing”…… (and that thing is just, your fucking thing no other way to describe it……) then swans is my thing whenever i listen to them i just feel this inexplicable warmth and a comfort yeah this comment is overlong dont really care enough to try to shorten it.

i mean its odd wikipedia literally just has this labelled as “no wave” and thats it… (and “no wave” itself, as a descriptor, is so vague and undefinable….) this has like significant, and signature, classic post punk shit going on and gives you an idea of where theyd (kinda???) go later on, in the 1990s

In a strange sort of way, this album makes me think of King Crimson. Thanks for uploading.

Early Swans have a strong Stooges feel to them while still remaining very distinctive and original.

Right on Dudelins. THIs ep is so indicative of NEw York strangeness of the time.

This is too fast, like the record is spinning too fast. It sounds pitched up and the songs are like 10 seconds shorter because of that, how has nobody commented on this?
