Very good explanation. Recently I read about Swanson releasing this square, however I could not understand any reason for purchasing it; have both Swanson's regular and twelve inch square. Hum, now I need to purchase one of these, I like the size as well. Two compliments on your video: 1. Camera is mounted, thank you, 2. Video without annoying background music, double thank you. These are great for finding the plumb cut on 2×6 rafters, as a regular sized speed square will hit the roof decking so you have to add a block to the bottom of the rafter or some other "trick" whereas this can be placed directly on the rafter without hitting the roof decking.

The milwaukee trim square has a more refined and polished look but the swanson seems more well thought out and functional.

Also for making mutiple same marks on you degree angle you can use a brass stair gauge to set what degree you want and make many marks and its set your square wont slip trying to hold the angle .

Just watched your excellent video on the Swanson mini speed square. Very informative and entertaining. I've been looking for a compact, multi function square for some time, and this bad boy looks like it fits the bill. Over here in the UK, we work mainly on the metric system, but construction timber still comes in imperial dimensions, and I'm old enough to still feel comfortable with inches and feet. That aside, the other tricks you illustrated make it a worthwhile investment. Thanks for sharing! 👍
