Wow I’m so envious of you guys right now, the principal at my first high school had one of those Wide body 500 SEC beauties and I’d love to be getting my hands dirty on this build and to have Jack Black (A.K.A. Mental! My 560 widebody also came from Japan, was built by some mentalist called Mustafa in Canada before imported to Norway. They had put the rear widebody panels on 1 inch offset to the rear making the wheel not in center of the wheel arch. Mental. I had to do it all over again

What I am really interested and would be cool if you tell about - what the legal side of swapping engines/gearboxes - what paperwork should be done so car can be properly registered and driven. Maybe some additional tech inspections/certificates/idk whatever is needed. I think this might be an interesting episode with covering all this legal stuff. Cheers!

This SEC could have the factory 300HP engine option. Especially if it was the Japanese import. First tell would be the luck off cats on the exhaust. If that's the case than you can sell that engine for premium.

If Japan had the same engines as in Europe then a 500 would have 231-265hp depending on year and version. 300hp was the 560 ECE version from 86-87, or the later one without cats.

I know of 4 560SEC here in the GTA. They have the 300hp engine option and 2 came from Japan. That's is all irrelevant now anyway. From what Shehryar is saying in the clip the new powerplant will deliver few times that of the original. Looking forward to it👍

I've worked on a lot of the ex japan W126's . The K's could be legit but the exporters were known for clocking the ODOD's which is illegal in Japan but as the cars are getting shipped,no one cared. Also the Engine is probably the non emissions euro version. I have two here right now which are the high compression RuF versions. The engine would have been a nice swap into a US spec 380SL etc.

man thats so freakin sweet. im a pre merger fanatic. well im a euro turner fanatic. i was born in 74 so many fav cars growing up where hammers, gemballa koenig and RUF(my fav!!). im curious was this a conversion car or the real thing. id my grateful for a run down about the history and spec of the 126 if you could make it. ive messaged so many tuners and told them about an idea but only got that it was a great idea but no interest to actually do it. what do u think... a shop that reimagines pre merger cars and builds modernized hammers, sl60's widebody sec's and the ultra cool w116. modern drivelines or recreations of with period correct stuff. anything like that. i think that would make a great specialized shop. a 850hp 4.0tt in a t124. holy crap that is so sick. u can use the idea i just want to see them get the respect them deserve. cant wait to see thing thing!!!!!!!!!

Why not use the updated M279 ignition coils? They are 2 coils per cylinder like the m113, but would bolt on and look a lot cleaner. There's 6 per side. Right side coils A2799060700. Left side coils A2799060700. If you ever build a plug and play m113 stand alone, put me down for 5.

Water cooled alternators.... I remember working at MB USA Jacksonville. I was the guy who debited dealerships for incorrect warranty repairs. My realm was all electrical ahead of the steering wheel. This is where I came across a water cooled alternator coming out of a Maybach. $6500 part. Is that insane or what?

How high do you think you can rev it. They have a lot of stroke vs bore. Mine pulls hard all the way to 6500 at 25psi. The VE doesn't even start to drop yet. I'm scared to rev it higher though.

I wouldn't be too excited by a "standalone" ABS ECU. The braking system on that older merc is or is not designed for ABS control? I'm asking in the context of increasing duty cycle (i.e. heat) on components that might not survive the revise duty (i.e seals).
