@BEATSofDevil
@BEATSofDevil Жыл бұрын
Cause they're both Latino. Perhaps you meant to say Filipino and Mexican. Though even then they'd only be similar if you ignore their actual cultural food and focus on the invasive colonialists food EDIT: y'all dumb people need to read. We're clearly talking about food and seems countless people who can't read argue as if we're talking about people. The OP got the terms wrong. It's Filipino and Mexican. Granted the similarity in foods mostly comes from both being of Spanish origin. All which I addressed in this comment but many people who don't know anything are trying to argue their ignorances

nah, i'm filipino american who grew up in both countries as a kid so i can tell you that the leftover pan de sal from the morning and the chocolate dip as a snack is just as basic as a bologna sandwich is to American kids. The only thing that's impressive about it is being able to adjust to the right sweetness. sometimes i burned the chocolate dip as it dries out trying to get the perfect consistency/thickness or sweetness. if i was still a kid, i'd take the bologna sandwich over the bread & hot choco dip.

i'm filipino american but always visited the philippines as a kid; nothing like milo or ovaltine as a breakfast drink, i'd even scoop that up with a spoon just to eat. but probably like you, there's nothing like locally made/native peanut butter in warm pan de sal or whatever bread of your choice. idk if it's because other countries use coconut/palm oil, cane sugar or whatever better alternatives, but i've never really liked the peanut butter here in the States. they say we can't memorize taste, but every time i eat peanut butter, i always remember the native peanut butter packaged in a re-used Nescafe instant coffee glass container. we had a ton of those glass containers, and re-used them too as glass cups or coffee cups, or as containers for other things like sugar and powdered milk as our creamer.

Back in the 80's when microwaves got popular I couldn't wait to get one. They were big, bulky and pricey. I quickly realized they weren't all that great for cooking. My kids would put a piece of bologna and cheese on a plate and the bologna shrunk into a bowl shape full of melted cheese, they loved it. 300$ bucks for a bologna bowl maker lol

When I was in high school, I would often go to school without food and not have enough money to buy anything at the cafeteria. I would sneak into the guidance counselor's office to make hot chocolate (that was like 50% hot chocolate powder), then go to the attendance office where they kept plain white bread for the poor kids and I'd dip the bread in the chocolate sludge. Every time I tell this story, people think it's disgusting. You have no idea how vindicated I feel lol

Lowkey; Lisa is great. Its a struggle meal and to warm it up makes the cheese gooey with saltiness of the meat. And janelle; hers is childhood. Its a simple filipino meal without the glutinous rice. Never have i had champurado like that, but sounds amazing as the bread soaks up the sweet dark chocolate. They are both amazing and memorable for a child. I would totally eat them together, dip the bologna sandwich in the champurado, yum!!

Girlie!!!!!! The telepathy I'm getting! In Dominican Republic we do the same thing, but we use this brand for the unsweetened chocolate: "Embajador". It can be made Prieto/Black [with Water] or just whole Milk. You can add Cinnamon, Cloves, or Malagueta. But my dad and I prefer it with just plain sugar at 3 AM~ ☕️🍫🥛

We do that in Nigeria too but instead of going through all that trouble to melt the chocolate there is a popular brand of cocoa powder that we use(if you know you know try and comment it) we just add powdered milk and the powdered cocoa with hot or cold mostly hot water and eat it with bread using powdered ingredients is important because you can adjust the sweetness and creaminess to your desired taste
