Recently met a fabricator that is creating his idea of the P25 using a 2dr GC to start with, stripped it all apart and has the entire carbon widebody kit and pretty sure that his shaved engine bay is for a secret powerplant I have yet to guess! It's lovely to see another Scooby project involving a GC8!

Sans parts, how much does a job like this typically cost? Also what is most cost effective? Doing the widebody first or doing the drive train swap first? What are the pros and cons of doing a full drivetrain swap versus just swapping the motor?

@onedorki3boi for just motor, you do need to swap in a turbo subframe. Id say youd be around $5k to start. With a relatively stock turbo engine you can leave your original drivetrain. This fella had his original drivetrain behind the 207 for a few years

Nice job! I have a question so I have a 2000 GC RS and an entire 04 WRX to be swapped, but I want to keep the RS dash, cluster, etc because I like that more. I just wanna swap the whole GD drivetrian with necessary parts. Do you know if it's possible to do that? What electrical wires/harness I should get? Thanks in advance.

Yes its possible, easiest way to achieve that is getting an Iwire merge harness. You can inquire at iwire.com

How did you deal with the change in wheelbase? GC8 is 99.2 in (2,520 mm) while the 2005 STi is 100.0 in (2,540 mm)? Did you simply keep the GC8 driveshaft?

Everything except the body is 2005 sti now. Control arms , subframes, all axles, driveshaft etc. So we didn’t have any issues in that aspect. But i do know what you saying. I’ve personally not experienced any issues with gd hybrid swaps into gc’s

@@TheSubieSanctuary Right. The difference in wheelbase is a function of the suspension/drivetrain components, not the body. In other words, even though the wheelbase is different, everything is bolt-on. I ask 'cause I'm looking to do the same with my MY93 GC. It also looks like the swap is only possible up to 2007, 2008 seems like too much has changed (double wishbone, wheelbase, etc.)

@@lukirc correct on the 92-07 simple compatibility vs getting anything from the 08+ as they wont really bolt up and completely different suspension layout
