On the audiobook issue: I am not the biggest fan but as an ADHD lady, I have to say that reading with the audiobook at the same time is a godsend for bad brain days and it also means I read at the speed of light, which keeps my brain occupied and therefore semi-functional.

A lot of fun, this video, thanks Meg! I was thrilled to see how good “night film” is because I have it, ha ha. It definitely moved up a bunch of spots in my TBR after hearing your rave review of it, though disappointing to hear that the last third wasn’t quite as good. And it’s really cool you learned a lot of nonfiction about Agatha Christie. 😊

A lot of good points. What I dislike about booktok is the glamorization.. the urge to buy a ton of physical books. We dont gave the same budget that is for sure.

Whenever I do this challenge it's a punch in the face because it makes me realize how much I am on my phone daily!!!But I only cound "mindless scrolling" as screen time, I would not add the time I use my phone while doing something else .... it s called having fun while being productive, right?

Your critiques of How to Kill Your Family made me realise one of my biggest pet peeves in a book is too much internal dialogue. I DNFd an ARC for Nightwatching (an upcoming thriller) because of the sheer amount of dialogue the character was having with herself, pages of conversation while literal seconds passed in the story of the book, I now realise that is what was bothering me sm about the book🙃😂 I loved this vlog so much!! 💜

Ironically that picture on your bedroom wall behind you reminds me of Night Film, and what I pictured. That can’t be a spoiler, no one would connect that unless you’ve read it. I loved that 150 page diversion part, I want to see a movie of that, it was so cool and different and like a maze, but movies. I’m so glad you loved it and am impressed you read it in 3 days! It took me at least a month. That was before I did audio, so it was all physical and I read some books in between. That book has definitely stuck with me all these years so it’s a 5 star for sure. I get the complaints about the ending, but it’s not just a mystery, it’s like an epic story, I don’t see how else it could have ended.

It's been some time since I read Nightfilm, but I remember feeling a little underwhelmed by the ending, but loved it otherwise. Neverworld Wake is a YA novel. It was okay. I didn't love the writing as much as in Nightfilm.

i'm a millenial and i disliked how to kill your family too 😂 i gave it the same rating as you and had the exact same opinions. i don't mind an unlikable character but being inside her head the whole time and hearing all her opinions became INSUFFERABLE. i think listening to the audiobook made it more intense. i thought the ending was SUCH a cop out as well it was very annoying.

I wouldn't recommand Marisha Pessl's "Special topics in calamity physics", it's an ok book but it's sooo long and hard to get through and it's trying too much to be the secret history while not necessarily succeding IMO 🤔

I think the true challenge is to swap screen time so you don't use your phone for that amount of time or anywhere near it but you can still use it obviously for necessary things. In reality it seems like people who do this end up still using their screens for very long amounts of time just not at their usual time of day. Often, they all stay up later to stay on their phones or will be on their phone while watching movies, etc.
