And here was our original comment :) so excited for this! --- We are an adventure seeking digital nomad couple. We met online, had a whirlwind 4 day camping road trip first date, 1 year of long distance dating, proposal on a Caribbean cruise, and got married on a sunset harbor cruise. In 2020, we began watching Sailing La Vagabonde and decided the vagabonding life at sea was our future. Our 5 year plan consists of buying a catamaran, learn to sail, and once our 6 month old can swim, explore the world! We would love to regatta with this legendary sailing family, and to experience this lifestyle first hand! - Martina Nankivell

Oh boy... the pressure is on with this one! In B.C. (before covid) times I was having amazing adventures - things like motorbiking through Outback Australia with a lady I’d never met or skippering a catamaran in the Whitsundays even though I'd never sailed a big boat before or motorbiking through the Simpson Desert with no support vehicle. I use these adventures to inspire myself and remember what's really important (usually the fact that the world around me is so damn beautiful). I'd LOVE to meet in the Bahamas and get back to being the person I want to be.

What is your position on the trucker protest?
@rondallmeier68552 жыл бұрын
@@Florida_Man_Robb Wow - that is quite a bit off topic - but whatever. I’ll give you my 2-cents. I am grateful that I live in a country where people can protest peacefully. Do I agree with how politicians have handled the pandemic - no. Do I agree with the trucker protest - my understanding is that it started when a rule was imposed requiring truckers crossing the Canada/US border to be vaccinated. Even if Canada did not impose the restriction, it would not change anything unless both countries agree. Is the entire world tired of the restrictions and want things to get back to as normal as possible - resounding yes. Clearly, the truckers have struck a cord with many people around the world. I am vaccinated and it is my opinion that it is in my best interest and the best interest of the general public to be vaccinated. Do I respect that others will have different opinions - absolutely. Many regions are different - even across Canada the Covid situation varies. Ontario and Quebec have passed peak cases and are on a downslope. In my province we are still at peak levels of hospitalizations. It is a strain on the health care system here. I feel for those stressed health care workers and for people waiting for procedures that aren’t getting done. Hopefully we don’t have any more waves (and/or variants) following this one and things get back to normal.

I have 2 kids (17 yr old son & 7 yr old daughter - Christopher & Brynnley) and I'd LOVE to share some experiences such as the regatta with them, so they have some happy memories, to outweigh the sad we've had to live. I'm vaccinated, but I won't let my kids. I know I'm not long for this earth, so side effects weren't an issue for me, but them? NOPE. I support that we need to learn to live with covid (just like the Spanish flu) and allow our bodies to build the necessary antibodies, just like humans have against EVERY other disease on earth, let our kids breathe, end the mandates and move forward! I'm very intuitive and sense vibes and I can feel you're worthy. I feel as if I am too, but I also know that luck hasn't been in my side the last 38 years, so it probably won't start now! Loved the video! 🧡 This quote ran through my head when I saw the competition announced: "The decision was almost instantaneous. He saw the shape of the voyage, and he wanted to do it. For him, and for the others who would come to the same decision, there was no deliberation, no deeper rationale or reason. The process was identical in each case: once the idea was grasped, the decision was made. Let others reason why." Riley and Elayna: I've re-watched your movies from start to finish at least once a year for the past 6 years. And the only emotions I've ever felt are inspiration. Inspiration to take the leap and travel. Inspiration to be kinder and verbalize gratefulness in my daily life. Inspiration to find what makes you happy and use that as the guiding force in your life. And finally...inspiration to make my first KZbin comment ever I think. For two people I don't know and who I may never actually know, I'm grateful for your contribution of inspiration 🧡

My wife and I have recently been captivated by sailing. Neither of us are sailors, but we're itching to learn. Now that the kids have flown the coop, we're looking to start a new chapter of our lives. Sailing, cruising, going new places with new (to us) travel methods would be so exciting. Also...we got engaged in the Bahamas. So it would be amazing to return there 25 years later. And I can show Lenny (and everyone else) the fun of stunt kites.

Hay hay! I am a software engineer living in Brooklyn, NY and would love the opportunity to get away from the concrete jungle for a bit and jump into the ocean with the SLV crew! Born and raised in Florida, I have been contemplating how I can get back to being on the water more and thinking maybe it involves a sailboat! Been watching y’all for a couple years now and have been captivated by your amazing work ethic, creativity, positivity and thoughtfulness. Would love the chance to learn from and hangout with you and the other participants!

I’m so glad Sarah took the leap! And I think my absolute favorite thing lately is Lenny cam! I’d forgotten how funny toddlers are as they grow and explore! As to the circle of life/learning about death: I had found National Geographic type videos as very educational in the whole lifecycle for my children.

Although it felt like I had been there since the beginning, I only stumbled upon your adventure on 4/11/2016. When looking for tunes, I found "La Vaga Jamming (Sailing La Vagabonde) - 'Lay It Down - The Rubens'" this led me down the Porthole & I watched every video over the next three days, and every video since. On 1/12/2017, I finally joined Patreon & then spent every video in fear I would be chosen for the cabin. I have finally overcome my fear & am ready to hoist the mainsail for a fun-filled adventure.

My dad used to have a boat when I was younger and I absolutely loved it. My best memories were all beautiful and simple moments spent with family and friends on our boat. (called RoGi- For my brother Robin and me Gisel :D ) After a couple years of owning that boat, my dad had to sell it. My brother and I have always loved being on the water and after losing our dad in 2019, it became even more of a dream for the both of us to one day detach ourselves from land and live on a boat. I’d found out about your channel a few years ago and have been watching and sharing your adventures ever since. Last year however, is when I really started having an attachment to your videos. I watched the video of when you were stuck in Portugal and Riley went on a different sailing trip to find and help refugees trying to reach Europe. It frustrated me. Growing up in Istanbul and seeing the lives of migrants and people’s efforts to just create a better life for their families destroyed me. After that video, I knew what my goal in life was going to be. I was in medical school when I watched that video. I have then switched majors and am now majoring in french and anglo-saxon law (in Toulouse, France) to later go into international law and specialize in refugee law. And I’m not saying your video made me do it but it clearly had a big influence on my decision. I’m incredibly thankful to have come across your channel, for the changes that you brought to my life and for that, I would absolutely love to be able to sail with you and learn from you as I can dive back into those beautiful memories. As someone who is land locked I have no experience sailing. I work long hours in a sawmill at a small town. However, I live by the lake and it’s definitely the center of our activities in my family with the free time I do have. I draw a lot of power from water, and the ocean is so foreign to me and it has a mystical feel. I long to be out there. My goals are to soon buy a cheap boat and start sailing. My obsession has been reading books about single handed sailors and living through them. This would be a dream come true for me. Much love from Arkansas- Spencer Graves

Seeing free diving inspired us to do breath holds as a family while driving past graveyards and in the lake. Dave has made a spear gun after watching Riley. Our family continues to adventure, skiing, surfing Canadian waves, sailing our 23 foot Adele and chartering here a 42 foot Hunter.
