I've got an old Nighthawk X8 I bought in 2016 I think running DD-WRT, and it badly needs replaced. Keeps dropping in the kitchen and every now and then it just craps out and I have to reboot it to have WiFi back. I'm planning to try and get a big chunk of the basement finished this year, and if I can make that happen, I hope to put in a proper rack-mounted network stack and some ceiling mounted access points, and that will definitely take care of it.

I’m glad you made this video, but if that’s the sort of speed I can expect over WiFi 7 then it doesn’t seem much quicker than WiFi 6. Moving to EE this week so will see how their own Smart Hub holds up with improving WiFi range in our house.

@MR Prawn, may I beg another video off you please? Im very keen on this router. However I am a router THICKY. I have BT Fibre to the house (so at best cos im on their cheapest deal I get down up and 90 up I think. Which is fine for me. Just building a PC with a wifi7 mobo (x870 MSI tomahawk). Can you do a vid on how to swap a router from something like the BT Home Hub to something like the router you just showed off?

@@matthewlee2424 generally speaking you have to run a ethernet cable from the modem (i.e. the home hub) to the router. Disable the WiFi on the modem and then just use the router instead. Sometimes it's more complex but it can be easy. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jqHJnIBth6h9g7c

Interesting but its apples to pears comparison one Wi-Fi 6/6e one Wi-Fi 7. Also, the issue is more about the environment a mesh, or an extra connected router would reduce the problems due to the house construction impairing the signal. Looking at your limited info I would have installed a mesh setup possibly linked by a switch or two
