I have and use Tenacity in the Fall and Spring under 80 degree weather. It works great on weeds and you can use it while over seeding cool season grass only but do not use on warm season grass. Definitely need to spray only once in one area below 80 degree weather because it will cause the grass to die also. Been there done that. I wonder if anyone has tried using Tenacity above 80 degree weather without killing your lawn?

@@ramongutierrez4542 I find the Allett to be a much better built machine. It is also less expensive. Allett has been around 50+ years Swardmans original founder was let go last year too which is concerning to me.

Even when I deleted the cup holder, the custom paint, racing stripe, the leather-wrapped hand-grips and the L.E.D. headlights, the wife still gave me a big, fat "NO" when I told her how much I wanted to spend on "just a lawnmower!" Although, I did pick up a second Troy-Bilt 21 inch with rear-bagger, less than a year old for only $30.00 and it works great! The Swardsman is a nice mower, but I'll never be able to afford one without winning the lottery... Then I'll be hiring someone else to do the mowing! Great video!

A 2" Cut in the summer is not a recommendation by many . Nice machine, I like the Thatching feature, but not the mowing height limit.

I also agree with that and did a summer video with that reccomendation. It depends on your watering, longer is better with reduced watet if your watering remains average you can vary your cut more. You have to always watch your lawn to see if something isn't working too week to week.

I like the idea of a reel mower. Three years ago I switched to a electric mower. The ease of operation, ease of storage, and quiet sold me. I could not go back to a mower with a traditional gas-powered mower. My lawn is small, and can be mowed in about 10-11 minutes.

Still would pick a greens master over this any day. Make friends with someone at a golf course and you will always have sharp reels - you could even buy about 15 new reels and bed knifes for the price of this machine.

I would no longer buy a swardman and definitely not a groundsmaster. If you want a reel mower you can maintain get an Allett. They weren’t available in the US when I made these videos.

I didn’t realize they were made in the Czech Republic?! I’ve never seen a swordsman before until your videos. On Nantucket I would see Locke reels all over. That Swordsman looks like a piece of lawn machine art at its best.

I have a tru cut that’s 3 years old and I love it but hate the handle. This is expensive, but I’m knocking on the door of 60 and this looks easier than tru cut.

You never mentioned what it takes it get your reel maintained and bed knives sharpened. Not every small engine shop can do that. How much does that also cost? etc. Good video though, just incomplete. Thanks

Great tip. The swardman is pretty cool since the cutting reel comes right out and you can bring it to a local place to get sharpened. BUT they also allow you to mail it to them for sharpening and back which is really handy since many of us might never be able to get it sharpened locally.

If I was buying a machine today I would buy an Allett. Swardman fired their ceo/founder last year (the guy that brought the mower to life) and they have one dealer in the US. Allett has dealers across the US and their design has stayed the same for years because it works. These machines are all expensive and parts/service over the years is a concern and it seems that while Swardman "innovates" they are really just correcting deficiencies from prior models.

How is the quality of cut and ease of use over the GM1000 you had?

The GM1000 is a tank and very well made. I liked it a lot but it required me to have a separate mower for cleanups, buying a dethatcher/verticutter and once I bought it I would have to immediately cut 1t 1" and less. I also found out quick that no one around here would sharpen it wthout driving and hour bringing the machine. The Swardman handles all that and it's designed for a homeowner and their reel sharpening service is pretty cool too. The swardman for me is MUCH easier to run too, the Toro is 1 speed and very fast, too fast many times for complex yards

@@SilverCymbal thanks for the info. I have a Tru Cut and a GM1000 and the TC is so much easier to maneuver around flowerbeds, fences, driveways, etc... Way more practical for a homeowner. The greens mowers are designed for a different purpose.

It's a mix of a lot of years of mess.. But it's some bluegrass, fescues and other mongrel things in there. I have been over-seeding with 50/50 Kentucky Blue Tall Turf Fescue Mix from Lesco.
