Young Thinkers' Conclave 2023 was organized on 30th Sept and 1st Oct 2023 at NLIU-Bhopal.
Following is the conceptual summary of the session Prafulla Ketkar, Prakhar Shrivastava, Rashmi Samant and Swati Goel Sharma on 'Decoding Manufactured Narratives'.
The discussion centers on the nuanced realm of decoding manufactured narratives in India and globally, intricately woven into the fabric of its society and politics. These narratives, wielded with intent and often laden with bias, serve a broader agenda that traces back through history.
Working of Ecosystem:
This multifaceted landscape encompasses examples from media, academia, art, literature, and cinema etc. each channeling narratives that influence public perception. Biased narrative feeding and its impact: how an average Indian by default grows up to be a left leaning individual knowingly or unknowingly.
Making of Ecosystem:
How the ecosystem was created and nurtured in the last 7 decades by the left and congress.
In the digital age, the proliferation of fake news, lies, and manipulative tactics like brainwashing and gaslighting has blurred the lines between reality and fabrication.
Within this landscape, propaganda, information warfare, and disinformation campaigns strategically craft narratives to serve specific vested interests. They employ tactics of manipulation, deception, indoctrination, and misdirection to shape public opinion and erode trust in institutions.
Emerging technologies, epitomized by deepfakes, present new challenges by creating hyper-realistic fabrications that challenge the veracity of information.
Breaking the Ecosystem:
(Fact-Check, Reverse Engineering of modern activism, Exposing the propagandas.) To navigate this intricate terrain effectively, individuals must cultivate media literacy and critical thinking. Recognizing the mechanisms behind manufactured narratives is paramount for informed discourse and preservation of rationality.
The session underscores the urgency of addressing these challenges within the contemporary Indian context to safeguard the integrity of its information ecosystem, where narratives, propaganda, and misinformation often converge in a complex interplay.
