My dad went through the attack on Pearl Harbor and was severly wounded. He was one of the first survivors to come back to the states. He never really talked about that experience but he always talked about the fact that Rita Hayworth came in her own car and took him to the Navel Hospital in Corona, CA. He never forgot that kindness. She was a class act.

Talent & charisma are funny things. When I watch Fred Astaire with any other partner, I can't take my eyes off him. His dancing is so smooth & seemingly effortless. But when he's with Rita Hayworth...she's the only one I see. I almost forget the tuxedo beside her is actually Fred Astaire. I think it's that she just seems to LOVE dancing. All her subtle head tilts, the way she holds her shoulders but moves her hips, how she flips her hair with such abandon--her dancing is refined but unique & full of personality. Every move just seems to say 'There's nothing else I'd rather be doing!'. She's brings such charisma, charm & joy to their performances.

Has anybody noticed that this is a onetake and they are always in full view (no chance to hide flaws like they do today with a shot of the faces e.g.) - and they dance in perfect synchronization? I like the Dean Martin Song with its tempo much better than the original. Keep coming back to your upload, thankyou so much.

My . my .my . THAT is dancing . . . and thanks for the Dean Martin backing track! Rita's father was a dance teacher. She was a real dancer - a match for Fred Astaire. Yes, these days did exist - my Mother and Father used to sing beautifully to the Hollywood musicals we watched on TV in England in the '60's. They encouraged us to sing and dance. My Mother took me to ballet classes, my Father sang with us as children. Class can carry on as long as we remember . . . ???

This was incredible footage! I’m familiar with Fred Astaire, but not Rita Hayworth. Watching their jaw-dropping moves mesmerized me. I couldn’t take my eyes off of Rita. What an amazing dancer, and that dress…!! That dress was pure artistry, as was her/their performance. Add that to Dean Martin singing, “Sway,” i’d have to say it doesn’t get better than this. Actually if you know anything about dance you’ll realise that Astaire has to push her around the floor.He of course is tremendous as always.As I’ve commented before watch him and Ginger-that’s real rhythm.And what’s all this about Hayworth’s “Flamenco “.roots.She was Mexican not Andalusa.By the way although underlined in red both spellings are correct.And the nationality is the Spanish word
