You'd be surprised as to the amount of people that don't know why artists come on to shows and don't spit "off the top" and spit a pre written track. Let me tell you why. They have an opportunity to come on a show and promote themselves, and album, mix tape, etc. So why wouldn't you use this opportunity to spit something great, usually something pre written opposed to a freestyle. So when I see negative comments about freestyle vs pre written it kinda irks me. I personally don't care if an artist can freestyle or not, if i like what they spit i will most likely check them out. Also judging an artist over how well he/she can free style is quite dumb.
@joshdicapua1548 жыл бұрын
I agree im not buying an album full of freestyles, so im not assuming there songs are gonna be like a freestyle anyway
@bennejame78548 жыл бұрын
Right? And if you know you're not the best freestyler why would you risk trying it and fucking up?
@Khead238 жыл бұрын
That's why artists have written bars prepared strictly for opportunities to "go off the top" or just rip some beats for promotional purpose. This dude straight up spit lyrics from his releases album!!! Gotta have lyrics in the bag for these purposes...

Replay the video and you'll see the part right before the 5 fingers of death where Sway literally asks Jon to rap his "New York Soul Pt. 2" over the 5 fingers of death because he likes the song so much. Sway literally asked him to do it lol Yall gotta listen yall. Either way, I agree. I would have preferred to see what he could have done with a new written, or non-written freestyle. I wonder why Sway gave him an exception. I think he would have done fine with freestyling.
