I saw how I was treated and how my friends of color were treated. I saw whos words were trusted and whos were discarded. I thought by now... some 40 years later... I thought we would have fixed it by now. Because it seemed that we had come such a long way in 1974.... and then it stopped. And its regressed in the last 16 years.... Somehow I cant help but feel that so much of the learned hatred has been taught thru a misunderstanding. Sadly, it will take several more generations for all of the bad feelings caused thru the learned hatred to fade away. And I put virtually all of the learned hatred on the white mans side. For the people of color the perceived anger and hatred was a matter of survival. Because so many times the offers from the white man turned out to be poison and pain.
