If you notice she has been in countless films and shows but never "sold out" for a role,thats why she doesn't get the props she deserves.A majority of her roles are centered around REAL black issues and she typically is a character who is not only authentic but regarded in a positive way,which black women generally aren't in hollywood/mass media.Her authenticity and realness is so lovable.

We love Loretta. But please tell Ms. Loretta there would be no Empire without Scandal.

jojocapone973 Scandal was the first black show we had in years!
@bluetextbooks8 жыл бұрын
Scandal made it OK for a primetime show to have a black leading lady. She has had several black leading men. She constantly tackles race, abortion, white privilege and police brutality. Gurl Stop!
@bluetextbooks8 жыл бұрын
jojocapone973 Not a black show. Scandal made it okay for How to Get Away with Murder, which made it okay for Blackish, Power, and Empire. Prior to Scandal we were subjected to reality TV and 3 season sitcoms. Furthermore, are you implying it's not a black show b/c her leading men aren't all black. We need our black people in powerful leadership positions in front and behind the camera. Olivia's father is one of the strongest characters on the show! Her mother was nothing to play with and the Harrison character was one the core of her company; he was fired because he liked drugs and beating women. But back to the objectivity: 80% of Scandal's writers are people of color, meanwhile just a third of Empire's writers are people of color. Google some of the creators of their best episodes and you'll find that many of them are written, directed and produced by blacks. Can you say the same for Empire? Finally, Shonda get's her own shows funded, white people go to her because they need her cosign. Meanwhile, Lee Daniels has to get the backing of multiple white showrunners and he's just the face of the show and that writing is no where near revolutionary or transformative for the black psyche. Shonda epitomizes what black shows need to be moving forward to ensure this isn't just a fad; like Empire. Have you seen their recent ratings?
