Just a footnote about John Amos: I recently watched his long-form interview with the Television Academy here on KZbin. He said what he actually complained about was the amount of focus given to the character of JJ as opposed to the daughter who had aspirations of being a doctor & the youngest son who was a budding activist. He felt as much attention should be paid to the kids with solid aspirations, dreams & goals to rise above their socio-economic situation as to what he felt was the cartoonish character of JJ. He also confessed he wasn't exactly diplomatic in expressing his dissatisfaction at the time. I never thought the show was the same without him. (ps - I have always loved both Jackee and Loretta Devine & this show did not disappoint, thank you for it!)

Jackee is legend! There's something about binging 227 that gives you an entirely renewed appreciation for the talent on that show! I'm 37-years-old, so I was pleasantly surprised that I had seen way more episodes than not. Jackee was/is...marvelous! Also hard to miss were the parallels between Sandra Clark and Fran Fine-- impeccably styled, elegant, a whole ass mess, and funny as all get out! 😍 P.S. Ever since Waiting to Exhale, I've always thought of Loretta Devine as the ultimate Auntie...unfortunately, not based on my own experience 🙄, but I've always thought of her as the kind of Auntie you can snuggle up to, who'd give you the squeeziest hugs and sweetest suga! 😍 3 QUEENS onscreen! 👑👑👑 ❤❤❤

Wow, Tia! Thank you so much for sharing your TV moms with us. This is by far one of my fav episodes. I learned a lot, especially as a beginner actress. This was motivation I needed to get my butt in drive. Also, I like how Loretta answered the question “how does it make you feel” in regards to Hattie having to accept her award in a segregated hotel. Loretta didn’t put too much emphasis on it because that’s how it was, she’s not bitter but she encourages us to keep moving forward despite the challenges, we as black people are handed. Love all three of them! ❤️

Love this!! So many iconic moments mentioned and so many legendary moments being made everyday. There’s so many iconic & great TV moms, it’s so hard to choose just one…. Loretta Devine, Jackée Harry, Phylicia Rashad, Tia Mowry, Halle Berry, Taraji P. Henson, & so on.

Great get, I was expecting to see Jackee but not Loretta lol. Great video, probably the best video uploaded on this channel yet. I loved how they gave real advice, facts, and were also funny as hell during the whole video too LMAO! I never watched Family Reunion (Don't have Netflix) but I've seen Loretta Devine in so many freaking movies lol. Sister Sister has always been one of my favorite TV shows, and I really loved Jackee on that show. I think my favorite TV mom is Harriet Winslow from Family Matters, but Lisa Landry from Sister Sister is a close second. The 90's will always have the best TV shows, and I'm glad I'm getting more and more on DVD to watch them again (Sister Sister included, and I still think Ray and Lisa should of ended up together) As an adult, they all still hold up. I also still think it's crazy they won't reboot Sister Sister mainly for the fact that everyone is literally remaking or rebooting every 80's and 90's show they can right now. Sister Sister is one of the most popular TV shows from the 90's, so that will never add up to me. Nothing like the OG anyway.

I appreciate seeing this video, three very different women with very different advise and experiences...Tia would make a great talk show host because she has a very open and honest personality and she not afraid to have conversations about things that most people try to keep civil and non personal...💜

Claire Huxtable was my make-a-wish mom. She said what she said to Vanessa, Theo, Denise or Rudy and moved on…my mom took about 3 days to move on from a topic…before and after her shifts…and there 4 of us. She’s now 91 and very quiet. @TiaMowry I loved, loved, loved this Quick Fix Convo…
