HI Paul, Linda and I have just binge watched this first weeks walking over the last couple of days - both of us getting itchy feet! Really enjoying your journey, loving the odd bit of humour thrown in here and there. so - on to week 2 then.. ATB Roger

Hello both. If your considering doing it I would say just go for it. It’s one of the best experiences I’ve had. Lucie (my soon to be wife) tells me that I love my dad jokes. Hope you enjoy the rest of the videos.

Really enjoyed watching your first week, we did it last year and are about to start the second week at the end of May. That last bit around the golf course was a killer for us, we just wanted it to end 😂
@pilgrimpaul7798 Жыл бұрын
Ah you must be excited for getting back out. Yes I remember feeling that way, you think after Appledore that you’re almost there but then you get sent out around the golf course.

Hello Ceri and Kat, nice to hear from you. Thank you for the nice feedback. I think I will appreciate Westward Ho! more when I go back to carry on the trail. I must admit I found it a bit odd being around so many people after being pretty much alone for the previous week. Thanks for watching.

Love the spider web! Love it when you catch the acorns. Sometimes it is so comforting to see it when I have been getting lost. I am navigationally challenged so I get lost a lot. Don't you love it that it is only possible through all the volunteers who groom the paths! Soooo love England. Hopefully next May, n. Yorkshire coast for me. Yay Day 7!!!! Bless you!!!!
@pilgrimpaul77983 жыл бұрын
Hello Kellian. I found the remote sections easy to follow but the towns were where I sometimes struggled to spot the acorns. I read that each mile costs £1400 a year to maintain. I hope 🤞 all goes to plan for your trip.

Great video. Are you on your own or how are you videoing yourself , especially from afar. Also when do you get to update this- I asked because when I was walking I was in my own and had very little reception most of the time to do much at all.
@pilgrimpaul77983 жыл бұрын
Hello Davina. I’m glad you enjoyed it. Yes I was on my own. To film myself walking I have to put the camera down and press record, walk back the way I have come from, then walk back towards the camera. I then turn the camera around and film myself walking further down the path away from the camera. I then walk back to pick up the camera. These clips are then edited into the end result you see. I edit all the videos when I get back home. This walk was done 26/06 - 02/07 and then I have released a video every few days. Thank you for watching.

Been waiting to see your last day’s walking. Loving watching your adventure. We started in July over a weekend, walked day 2 in torrential rain through the forest as you did. Will probably take us 8 years to complete but will keep revisiting your videos to know what to look out for. Do you find walking poles a must. I found some areas on the first two days so steep. Would walking poles help with feeling more confident on steep descents and help on the inclines? Keep the videos coming. Really enjoying them.
@pilgrimpaul77983 жыл бұрын
Hello Kerry. Thanks for following along. It’s tough going when the weather is bad isn’t it. Certainly made me appreciate the good days. This was my first walk using poles. The theory is they help improve posture and spread the weight of your pack. I also thought they may come in hand on the steep sections. I will probably only use them on multi day hikes when I have a heavy pack.
@ryanrunningwild3 жыл бұрын
I find them really good for descents, saves my knees!

Any opinion about the best months of the year to do the whole path in one go?
@pilgrimpaul77982 жыл бұрын
I have done most of my walking in later spring and late summer/early autumn. My thinking is the weather may be nice enough to enjoy it but not as hot as the mid summer. Some of the stages are long (depending on the itinerary you follow) so you need to do it when there are enough hours of daylight.
