I was amazed how many DBs were about Kev, great stuff.

As mentioned the point was manual operation but the loco stopped just before the point blade and after crossing was positioned just passed the other moving point blade which was changed for the big train, Very accurate driving or ? The DB train that left had two empties which I assume where damaged. To be changed out at ? DB depot(s).

As a German, I was really surprised that the DB logo is everywhere. I have done some basic research on the history of EWS and DB Cargo UK. What are the general opinions of UK railway fans about this occurrence?

An excellent capture! However, there is clearly a need for 2 x 37's on each train!

That class 66 was lucky at 2:23... The points weren't set in the locos favour.. That could of led to a bit of a derailment.
@tonyrobinson3622 ай бұрын
We ran over trailing points all the time in the coalfields, You do not have to switch trailing points, Obviously facing ones.
@michaelnaisbitt79262 ай бұрын
Should have had a pair of 9F 2-10-0s leading their shear weight would have bent that set of points to their will 😂😂 there have cases in the past of a 11:40 Duchess class hitting a set of points at speed and damaging the blades severely

I thought that this is why some 66s were regeared.

Gearing doesn't fix traction.
@bfapple2 ай бұрын
@@pootispiker2866 indeed, but I’m questioning why DBC put a 66/0 on this turn, rather than one of their regeared 66/5s.
@pootispiker28662 ай бұрын
@@bfapple Because that's what asset management decided. Gearing wouldn't have mattered all that much here. This 66 isn't working all that hard by the time it gets to the crossover.

I have to ask this To me DB means Deutches Bundesbahn (German Railway). I say this because on and off I spent 7.5 years in Germany from 1963 to 1978 whilst I was serving in BAOR. If I am right are we that short having to use German rolling stock? 15:17
@derekporter76582 ай бұрын
The company used to be EWS, English/Welsh and Scottish railway. It was owned by Wisconsin Central when our Transrail, Load haul, mainline and rail express services were all bought out. Wisconsin Central got out of the UK railway game and sold out to DB, and that's the reason why you see rolling stock in DB livery and branding. However, a company associated with DB, DB Schenker was recently acquired by Danish firm DSV logistics. Not sure what that means for DB here in the UK, but the buyout was approved so DB could focus on its core business. So time and someone with more insight will tell.

No DB means Deutsche Bahn. It was private in 1993 I think. Bundesbahn doesen't exist anymore... 😢

Customer's requirement i guess. Furthermore 2 empty wagons means less load on fuel consumption bill at the end of the day if no extra load needed. Hope it helps 🚂

That dog's dinner was a direct result of privatisation We still have diesel-electrics running long distances under the wires where electrics or electro-diesels could be used. The orivate sector puts profit before the environment and scraps viable locomotives and coaches to suit their own. Millions of pounds sacrificed in sidings. 'business models'
