@@Baraka_Obama_ Well first off welcome to Destiny 2! Glad to have you on this crazy journey! As for your question Ana was crying over Rasputin because back in a time centuries before D1 or D2 started there was a time of peace and advancement called the Golden Age. This is where humans colonized on other worlds and was also when the Traveler was first discovered. So during this time is when Clovis Bray and his family created all the amazing inventions that they did from engrams to SIVA to even Rasputin. So during that time Rasputin was made to be a weapon to protect humanity and make sure the Traveler never left. Although most of it changed because Ana Bray steps up and was teaching him about art and music, and just was of being more human. It was because of her that Rasputin wasn’t a mindless drone who would follow his orders and protocols. Also remember this is before The Collapse and the creation of Gurdians/Ghosts, so Ana was a normal human at the time who later on died most likely during The Collapse when The Witness and it’s forces invaded Earth and the other colonies like it’s going to do now. So with all that being said Ana grew very close to Rasputin and it turn he became family to her so losing him right after she got him back has to be really hard on her. As someone who’s been playing Destiny since the D1 Beta I gotta say it’s sad to see him go, yeah he tried killing us in the past and always needed saving but Rasputin was always a character who was in the background that we knew would always protect us. Now that he’s gone it’s going to be very weird if we have to raid Warmind vaults and not have him there. It’s hard to explain it’s just an odd feeling to not have him around anymore cause he was a staple to a lot of missions and such when he was his old self before becoming an Exo and having this character development. Hope this helped you understand! Out of all the end season cutscenes and events through Destiny 2 this has got to be hands down one of the best endings to a yearly seasonal arc. The only other one that comes to mind with such an impact has to be The Calamaty Protocol Live event at the end of Shadowkeep year, right before Beyond Light. The cutscene while short had the same nostalgic feeling like this one had, imitating the classic D1 poster screen, with the darkness snaking through the scene to take all the planets the season had set up to be taken away. Plus after that if you tried to log back in, the only message was "The Light cannot save you, seek us out on Europa." God I fucking love Destiny.

I would say that was a dub for Rasputin. Xivu Arath doesn’t get supercharged and Eramis doesn’t blow up the traveler (and us with it). The witness just thinks the traveler is scared so it didn’t move but it stayed due to Rasputins sacrifice.

Because bungies are idiots in terms of lore logic. Rasputin is the most powerful and most advanced AI in the history of mankind in the world of the game, that even the Vex cannot simulate him and he is the only one who, without access to paracausality, could survive in a direct collision with darkness - but (suddenly!) he cannot do anything . While he still has the SIVA tech he can control - at least there's a sample from our outbreak perfected - what's stopping him from recovering/making weapons with them? Never mind. Plus it has satellites and infrastructure that we helped rebuild. And about the fact that the "fallen ones got access to the codes" - hello - you literally control all this as if it were your own body - change the codes and develop a new security system! On some unusual logic, so that the organics go crazy when they try to hack. For Rasputin, this would have been an easy task. The fact that Zivu wanted to use the satellites to sacrifice for the invasion ritual - damn it - that didn't change with the destruction of the satellites - it's just that now it will be more bloody. It is not clear what prevented you from saving the satellites in the way that I described above, and simply repelling attacks pointwise, still stretching the "sacrifice" so as not to activate the ritual - it is not clear. According to lore, Rasputin has a bunch of technologies, from the same IKEL (I still don’t understand why the military AI made most of its weapons weak in damage - in theory, all of its weapons should be on an aggressive / reinforced frame), to the ability to destroy entire worlds, based on which it was possible to just throw a bunch of new weapons into the game, but instead, in the season of the seraph, we have only regular reskins disguised as new ones. In general, bangs are simply at odds with logic. Here we have Rasputin, who is no longer even an AI, but it’s not clear at all - who, according to the lore, even practically destroyed and hiding, gave heat to the Cabal and the Vex at the same time. But at the same time, some fallen homeless people can hack him, and he can’t do anything, well, absolutely nothing at all now...

I have my misgivings over the loss of Rasputin given how little of him we’ve actually had over the years …but still hit hard in the feels. Definitely one of the best cutscenes in Destiny history. RIP, Rasputin.

The way I see it in hindsight, there was no other way this could end. He's too powerful and too corruptible to exist as he has, and his entire arc over the years led to him realizing this. But also, well, we all know how the saying goes. Devotion inspires bravery. Bravery inspires sacrifice. Sacrifice leads to death. I feel like there's a reason the Traveler stopped leaving just as soon as Rasputin went offline.

Zero reasons that Rasputin couldn’t have copied a version of himself in to an engram or another Exo frame or any spare disk space like he’s done many times before. It took Clovis about 8 seconds to do. Dumbest plot point since the acceptance of Crow’s guilt for murdering Cayde when he was obviously acting on the will of a giant Mind Control Space Meatball and was totally brainwashed. I'm guessing you haven't payed attention much this season, or don't know much about the warsats. The reason Rasputin couldn't make a copy is because that would prevent the warsats from being destroyed. The warsats function through Rasputin, so if he was still there, the warsats would continue to destroy the Traveler. The only solution to this is to completely delete Rasputin.
