Born in Michigan and raised in Detroit, I still haven’t tried neither restaurants and it’s been 35 years!!! And now live too far away to try them. Maybe in another lifetime. cool food review.

Wow….! To be from, Michigan, and especially living in, Detroit! You never had a Coney Dog…. That saddens me. That should be a bucket list item for you. You’re the FIRST Michigander that I’ve ever heard say that….😢

First generation family grew up there. That’s the old Greek Town man. My grandparents had their wedding dinner down on that street. Two Greek family members use to own them both and fought of course (haha). Glad to hear that you enjoyed both man.

Yeah I’ve read the history about the feud. It makes it more fun. I’m glad they’re both still around. Both have been open over 100 years! That says a lot

The big difference is that Lafayette has a sweeter taste to its mustard. It’s not unpleasant, but I prefer a spicier chili with root beer over either Coke or Pepsi.

The lady at American says that the hot dogs they have made are made for them alone.

I've been to both many times and both are very good. I prefer Lafayette's. I find their chili a little spicier compared to American. Again, both are very good.
