The Pbv 501 in War Thunder is a Swedish Light Tank that's basically a BMP-1 without the ATGM! The Pbv 501 fires an RPG through its 73mm cannon with 300mm of penetration. What's special is the type of damage this projectile does. It's not your average HEAT warhead.
The BMP-1 is famously difficult to aim due to the low projectile speed but once you've mastered it, it can be incredibly destructive. The HEAT RPG offers a little more overpressure damage over a conventional HEAT warhead giving you slightly better one shot potential on lightly armoured targets. Not quite dual purpose but almost!
This is a pretty good addition for Sweden but at the detriment of all the WW2 tanks that it faces, of course!

One vehicle I feel like that would be a useful bridge between the T-34 and the T-44 in the Russian tech tree is the T-43 medium tank. It was seen as a possible T-34 & KV-1 replacement, but with Germany's advance in armor technology, it was cancelled in favor of just up-gunning a regular T-34 instead, thus the T-34-85 was made.

I think another good addition, not in the gap, would be the T-34M (A-43). It was essentially a modernized T-34, that had the 76mm F-34 cannon, although the 57mm ZiS-4 cannon was considered. Strangely, it had suspension similar to the T-50. It was close to production, but the German invasion forced the soviet factories to just start producing the T-34 (1940) and (1941), and add upgrades over the course of the war, instead of in one big go.

Nope. They were ex-east german ones. The czechs bought them from the Swedish army (they weren't popular), refurbished them and sold them to Iraq.

This isn't entirely true. The Pbv 501 started life in Czechoslovakia and East Germany and were first imported in 1994. The Swedish armed forces made the decision in 1994 to buy and import 350 BMP-1's. In reality this would wind up including 83 spare parts vehicles, for a total of 433 units. Only 5 East German models would be bought by Sweden in 1994, along with 83 vehicles that were taken down to spare parts in Czechia. The Czechoslovak models were bought by Sweden in 1996 from Czechoslovakia and upgraded to Swedish specification by VOP-026 Sternberk. They were imported from 1996 to 2001 at a rate of twelve units per month. They were in service from 1996 until 2005. The army didn't appear to like them very much. 336 Pbv 501's would be delivered in this manner, along with 14 models designated as Stripbv 5011. The 5011 was basically identical to the 501, but had three antennae instead of one. 335 Pbv 501's were sold to Czechia in 2009 following decommission from the army. A tiny amount is apparently still in Sweden to this day, In Markstridsskolan, Kvarn among other places. Here's a bit of trivia: Four out of the first five Pbv 501 to enter Sweden were given the following names: 204992 ”Patton” 204994 ”Monty” 204997 ”Rommel” 204998 ”Guderian” Here's my sauce. I had a 15 kill game(excluding planes) with the Leo 40/70 I would highly recommend it. For anyone who sees this and doesn’t know it’s an 8.0 chassis with a 40mm on top at 5.0 so. To say you’re the most maneuverable tank in the lobby at any time is an understatement.

The Comet is not great. Being brittish you dont get any APHE and at a meh caliber you sometimes deal very little actual damage. It has a terrible reverse speed and the turret traverse leaves a bit to be desired. Its not unuseable but youre not really missing anything if you dont get it.

Not sure how much people would want it but I would love to see you do a video of mid or high tier Chinese line up something like 3.3 up because at those lower tiers you get so much variety of play styles and at mid tier you get some fun domestic Russian copies that have their own personality being able to run a Sherman for a city map and a t34 depending on what the situation calls for and having both an m10 or hellcat and an isu as options also makes for fun carried gameplay thanks for the content as always bawz

Not the autoloader if iffy but: +HE rounds for the 2A28 came later and couldn't be loaded by autoloader +In the hear of the battle, manual loading of the light 73mm rounds in quicker than the autoloader So you came to a situation where dismantling the autoloader is desirable for the BMP-1.

how do you feel about them continuously adding grossly op spaa that is primarily used against tanks to the ww2 bracket? Couldn't they predict or see that these vehicles belong much higher in the br brackets? or do you feel they are fine? (looking at the new french spaa, italian spaa, swedish spaa. etc)

The ANTI and the itpsv are kinda nuts but honestly what would you do with them? The itpsv is basically among its peers, and the ANTI II is not nearly as scary in a full up-tier, let alone above that. Its traverse and rate of fire are slow enough that it's not much of a threat to planes, and once you get beyond 3.7 your only chance is on a flank and it's not mobile enough for that (IMO). No way it belongs anywhere near the M19 or M42. And the Lvkv isn't very scary. You have to start heading for a cap as soon as you spawn because you'll be out of ammo by the time you get there. Is it possible some of the scariness of these SPAAs is that they're all in "secondary" nations, which means the people playing them probably aren't brand new to the game? Especially Italy and Sweden who don't have heavies (until the Tigris) and therefore cater to that quick, flank, gremlin style of play?

@@swissfreek A lot of the ones you mentioned I view as fine; specifically find issue with the ones that are primarily used as anti tank guns that cost the price of an spaa. Looking at the italian R3 t20 that finally got moved up to 5.7. it was way to low of a br for far too long before they correctly moved it up. They added in a bunch of more spaa with similar capabilities that "feel" like bullying when you use them. the Leo 90/70 at 5.0?? kinda gross ngl. The TPK they added recently next to the AMX 10P both High velocity rounds easy to aim the TPK is fast aswell. Some of the older ones aswel. Like the AMX 13 DCA; Lvkv 42 etc. I dont know what the solution is I think looking at SPAA and changing some of them to light tanks and some of them that are super low in br and fight ww2 tanks regularly if they stay there perhaps they should lose their HV armor pen rounds and make them just good AAs. just a thought. I view them kinda similarly to the new 109 HE lobbers that bully ww2 vehicles the 4.3-7.0 bracket is feeling a tad weird these days.
